Bilmar Beach Resort

"The hotel needs so much work. I got stuck in the bathroom 4 times because the door (barn door style) was messed up. It would be so hard to open I couldn’t do it and my husband had to force the door open. The bathroom sink needed new piping underneath. The “fixes” were failing. The towel hooks in the main area of the room fell off the wall every time we hung a towel on them. The elevators are dirty, extremely slow, and used by staff to take a trash bin to each floor to get trash. The elevator flooring is unfinished and a tripping hazard. There should be a separate maintenance elevator. I’m pretty sure my husband and I both got food poisoning eating at Sloppy Joe’s. While the property is older, it needs legit repairs and not just bandaids on the problems. Parking was horrible for hotel guests one night because of a wedding on the property."

"Our only issue was that our room wasn’t cleaned until the second to the last day we were do to leave. I had spoken to a housekeeper during the middle of the week, who was at the room next door. I asked if she was stopping at our room next. She appeared to have said yes but no one showed. Later that day I saw housekeeping and just asked for clean linens and she obliged. Other than that, staff was awesome and we definitely will visit again."

Island Grand at TradeWinds

"We loved this resort for our family vacation with our 5 year old son. The beach is huge & stunning & easy to walk in! He had a blast for hours on the slide. We also liked that we could have an umbrella and 2 beach chairs at no additional cost. We also ate way too many smores at nightly s’mores party! Our som was too young for the aqua park (min age is 6) so that was disappointing for him. I did yoga on the beach at 730 am- it was more of a stretch session aka Hatha yoga. But it was peaceful & beautiful. We also did the paddle boat- which was fun for our 5 year old. The pools are all full of people & sunscreen so we stuck to swimming in the Gulf - which was perfect for us- salt, sand & sunshine- just as God intended. We also REALLY enjoyed the RumFish restaurant with the huge aquarium & ate there 2 nights in a row. We enjoyed the steak - the grouper was less enjoyable after looking at the grouper in the tank haha! Only thing I didn’t love was the walk from Island Grand to RumFish beach to eat dinner & do yoga… it was a bit long. But not horrible & they have a nice mat lining the beach to make it easier."

"The cleaning staff doesn’t speak any English and have a hard time helping… so they just kind of ignore you. Seems like they should at least be kind or respectful. Maybe learn to say good morning or something. Had a fire alarm… guy just said he was going to disconnect all of em until he got it figured out. Not a good feeling. The breakfast staff was outstanding!! We did enjoy our stay. Just a little heads up on things you guys could improve"

"I didn't partake in any of the amenities, but the stay was great. The pillows weren't the greatest (hard), but mattress comfy. It would be great, if they had a microwave in the rooms. Apparently, there was an issue with the elevators during our stay there. Overall, the experience was wonderful. "
