He was also very helpful and gave us lots of advice about getting around Edinburgh. The hotel is situated a 12-minute bus ride from the city centre, in a very safe quiet area of town. Ali, the owner, was super helpful with recommendations, both he and his wife were so friendly it was like staying with family. The host was very helpful and provided good service. The beds vere nice. Our room was facing a quiet garden with a nice view, no noise from the road at the other side. Edinburgh center was in acceptable walking distance about half an hour. Capital House does not offer breakfast of any kind but that suited us. I was looking for somewhere to stay between the 2 uni campuses and this was perfect. Also on a direct bus route to the centre and train station. It is an old building but the room was clean and comfortable with enough room and storage space for the 2 of us and a view of Arthur's Seat. A kettle and plenty of tea and coffee was provided as well as biscuits and 2 comfortable chairs. We had a private bathroom across the landing and up a few stairs. This was also roomy and clean but I would have preferred it to be lockable from outside so it was only accessible to guests in the room it was intended for. The couple running the guest house are very friendly and extremely helpful; the lady of the house even offered us a wheeled suitcase on departure as our carry bag was heavy to carry around on our last day. We were also offered the option of leaving our luggage until it was time to catch our train.
