Entrance from main road to hotel entrance/parking lot unmarked and too narrow. Almost invisible - even during daylight hours. Also, when exiting lot, large tree branches to the left on the main road hinder view of oncoming traffic. Very dangerous.
Our stay here though very short has been good because of the great amenities. I liked the extra sink by the refrigerator and the placement of furnitures. Also enjoyed the hot and cold breakfast and the friendly staff. The location is also very strategic, easy access to the freeway.
I traveled with my 3 toddlers, 7 year old and my husband. The kids were cranky from the trip and I requested a room on the first floor as far away from other guests as possible. We got 3 floor with an adjoined next door neighbor who complained about the noise. I tried to remedy the situation in advance, not my fault. But the front desk phone was in the restroom which I found extremely odd. By the time they called the kids had settled down, but the phone call woke them back up. Again not my fault. Otherwise the stay was fine.
Stayed overnight while passing through Tennessee. Staff was nice and helpful. The elevator was hot so we took the stairs (2 story bldg). Beds were very comfortable. Our room was considered a suite but it was just a big room with a sofa bed. It suited our needs.
"A pleasant Oasis on a cross country journey with G"
We stopped in Memphis to share some musical history and culture with our Grandchildren. We centered the lesson with visits to the recording studios and museums. We used Beale Street as a starting point for background before we ventured down the "Blues Highway"! We side tripped over to Graceland for our Grand daughter to see the Mansion. They were delighted to learn the mix of music genres that became Rock & Roll!
East Memphis is home to the award-winning Huey's, the finest and most expensive steakhouse in town, as well as to Folk's Folly, another renowned steakhouse. The Highland Strip (Highland St. between Midland and Southern) is a place of many bars and the main center of entertainment in the area.
