"The toilet was so high up i couldn't do a sh*t. I'm six foot tall, but when I was sat on the toilet my feet were not touching the ground. Overall, the place was pretty bleak, e.g. no mirror in the bedroom to check my outfit, only one pillow so I got neck ache in bed, no towel rail or hooks anywhere in the bathroom so couldn't hang up a towel, no hook in the bedroom to hang up a coat, no toilet roll holder. Market Street Hotel

8/10 Good

"The property location is a very short walk from Waverly station and very close walk to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. I loved the room but our view was a brick wall that was very disappointing. However the bed and pillows were the most comfortable of 4 different hotels we stayed at. The room is clean and comfortable and offers various drinks and snacks from the mini bar/fridge at no extra charge. They do have an excellent breakfast for the price and the lounge is located 7 floors up with excellent view of the city. We also enjoyed the welcome champagne upon arrival. The hotel staff were all very pleasant, well mannered. I would recommend this hotel and stay there again."

"Virgin Hotel Edinburgh is the place to stay while visiting this city! It's location on Victoria Street is central to everything and in tbe heart of the town. The customer service in the hotel is outstanding, truly white glove. All the staff go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible."

Apex Waterloo Place Hotel

"Though we only stayed one night the Apex Waterloo was a delight. We arrived in the early afternoon, way before check-in but we were upgraded to a two story accommodation that was available immediately (for which we were grateful after a long flight)! We were surprised to find air conditioning. Most hotels in Scotland do not have it and the summer days can get quite warm. The hotel location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. We enjoyed cocktails in the lounge after our day of sightseeing and breakfast was wonderful. The hotel stored our luggage while we toured the castle and unfortunately, we did not have time to enjoy the pool or spa but we will definitely return! Thank you!"
