Nice hotel, fantastic staff, would stay again. However it us very tired and a bit tatty
We absolutely loved our brief stay here, would have happily stayed longer and plan to return if in the area. The property is beautiful and sits in stunning grounds, which we thoroughly explored thanks to the walk recommended by Stuart. We were made to feel very welcome by Ben at reception. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfy. We dined at the restaurant and had an exceptional meal. Stuart was once again on hand to recommend a local ale and take us through the vegan options. The food was incredibly tasty. The free continental breakfast is a nice touch too. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so wonderful.
What an odd place. Quite nice looking from the outside and the downstairs reception room and the dining room look the part for a traditional Scottish hotel. However from there it’s pretty much downhill all the way. From windows that haven’t been washed in a long time to windows that haven’t seen a lick of paint in decades to a shower without its glass frame and door and too short a shower curtain and stained hall and bedroom carpets, this place needs a revamp and probably needed it 20 years ago. The dinner menu was bizarre. Heavily Japanese with a multitude of supplements and quite expensive for the class of hotel. Breakfast is just continental with more supplements for cooked Scottish breakfast and when I say continental, it was bare minimum continental with tinned fruit and cheapest of bread. The bill was wrong when I left but that quickly got fixed. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Scottish gothic meets Fawlty towers. Carpets were worn, bed like marshmallow, bath big enough for toddlers. Food was ok but not brilliant. Staff were entertaining. Dark wood panelling, windows that needed a good clean. But the bones were good and I could feel the ghost of Rabbie walking the grounds

Spotless room, all staff polite, welcoming and accommodating. Great food at dinner, breakfast might need updating a little but totally acceptable. Premises gorgeous in communal areas but needs a little updating too. Would recommend
