"Absolutely lovely hotel in Iriomote! Can't recommend it and the island enough! From the pristine and almost untouched beach right next to the hotel, to the events, helpful staff and nice facilities makes this a wonderful stay. You don't really need to think about anything here, it all just works. There is a bus shuttle from the boat when you check in, you don't need to reserve anything, it just works. "Unfortunately the bungalow 202, which we had booked in Sonai was very smelly so it was not acceptable for us to stay there for the 4 nights we booked. In general the Mumbu Sonai branch is pretty run down and heavily overpriced for what it has to offer. I have to say though that the staff was really helpful, especially Ayumi (arigato gozaimasu), trying to find alternatives during peak season which resulted in us staying in 4 different places for the 4 nights we spent on the island, which was ok...

Be aware there are two ferries from Ishigaki, and only one has a shuttle to the hotel. "We loved our time at Cago Guest House. My husband and I stayed for two nights and wish we stayed longer. Taketomi is a beautiful, quiet island and Cago is the perfect place to stay and enjoy it. The owners, a husband and wife, are lovely. We opted for the dinner both nights (breakfast was included) and all the food was fantastic. Highly recommend this place!"

"We really like the location, it’s near the beach, but then we found out that beach has a lot of jellyfish, so we cannot swim in the ocean there. We were there with 2 little kids, two and four years old, we had to walk to the office to check in then bring all of our stuff to the cabin ourselves, we ask if she can help but the lady was not able to offer any help.
