The large dining table and breakfast bar ensure that everyone has a seat for meals or playing board games. There are new mattresses and bedding in all the bedrooms which include a king bed and flat screen television in the tranquil master suite, and a queen bed in the cottage second bedroom. The roomy third bedroom includes a bunk with twin bed on top, a full-size bed on the bottom and a twin trundle that pulls out when needed, or stores away when it's not. This family-friendly unit includes a washer and dryer, so there's no vacation laundry necessary when arriving back home. But we warn you–it's truly hard to leave here! It's conveniently located just across the street from 230 feet of our own private stretch of the shimmering white sands and glittering emerald waters that make Destin beaches famous. Chateau La Mer is a desirable, family-oriented complex, perfect for a peaceful get-away. And don't leave Fido behind! There are large expanses of lawn and sidewalks along the gorgeous beach. I first noticed damage to the trim around the outside door but didn’t think much about it. There was an issue with one of the sinks draining in the master bath and the tv in the living room had lines flashing across it. When I reached out to the property managers, they let me know someone would fix it when we left and to use another tv. We saw cockroaches on the steps and under the porch railing needs fixed. I wouldn’t complain if it was priced appropriately. We have stayed at chateau le mer for 5 straight years and have seen a decline in property quality over the last 3 years prompting us to book different units each time. It is the entire top floor of the two-story building-roomier than expected. Convenient to the beach, shopping, and a couple of restaurants within a 3-4 minute walking distance. It’s an older building but the owners have made improvements to update it. Our only complaints are that the floors needed to be cleaned and the mattresses weren’t comfortable - the king bed is sunken in on both sides and the other two beds were extremely firm. The rental company notified us before check-in that the glass stovetop was cracked and they would be replacing the stove during our stay. Not really a problem for us as we were still able to use the oven, however, there were no oven mitts to be found so we improvised with a dish towel to remove pans. A new stove was delivered and installed by Lowe’s the next day. Shore Dreams Rental offered 4 free passes to use for one of the activities through Xplorie to compensate for the inconvenience. We didn’t take advantage of it but appreciated the offer. ##### Dana S.
