A great hotel which is made fantastic by its staff, all of whom are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We spent a lovely 2 nights here and Holland on Sea is Essex's best kept secret.

Staff very helpful and polite from the house keeping staff to the reception. Room was a good size, clean beds for us were too soft but once found a reasonable comfortable position had a reasonable sleep. Can I just say that when customers are asking for an early booking in time and booking breakfast before arriving, it would be helpful if you could inform the customers that they needed to pay for the extras on arrival or as soon as the reception opens at 1330hrs. As there was a bit of a mix up...

The hotel & grounds were amazing, it felt restful & relaxing the minute you arrived. Everywhere was fresh & clean, all the staff were nice, polite & helpful, from the reception upon arrival to the services & cleaning, saying hello as they pass you or offering help if you looked lost. The restaurants dinner menu was limited for me as I don't eat fish or spicy food, the sirloin steak was my only option which was pricy, I requested it medium to well done, it was cooked perfectly & the portions were...

This was a last-minute getaway for me and my wife. We have four young kids and two older ones, and the youngest had been poorly, so we weren’t going to go. But we found this property and decided to book for one night. Although it was a little further than I would usually like for a one-night stay, it was absolutely worth it.
Shannon has done an amazing job with the place — the pictures really don’t do it justice. The bed was super comfy, and the room was so spacious. It had everything you...

From start to finish a truly memorable experience in every good way
We had a 3 night break due to a wedding and was using the jolly sailor-fish on the quay as a central base for the wedding and all activities in the area
We were greeted by variety with a lovely smile and helpful attitude and were asked if we wanted to go straight up to our room or would prefer a sit down and a drink first and as I had just driven for about an hour chose the latter took a look at the menu and also chose to have a...

The Esplanade Hotel was great value for money, (Room 32) We would highly recommend it for a comfortable night and a most amazing and enjoyable breakfast. The front desk receptionist (Lilly) was very helpfull.

An outstanding property, I couldn’t fault this place. Very clean and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The host was very professional at check in. Very secure for parking. I will definitely stay here again if visiting the area. Shops only 5 minutes walk. A true home from home feel from start to finish

Two adults stayed. Used both bedrooms. Very hot but able to open windows. Enjoyed the upstairs outside deck when we were there. Useful having washing machine.
Plenty of street parking, but tight spaces & don’t rely on parking directly outside. Bathroom tiny but fit for purpose. Easy walk to beach front. Thank you

Perfect place for our stay in Woodbridge. So close to the station and everywhere in town. Spotlessly clean and really nicely set up. Had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again if coming to the area.

Dedham, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Essex, offers a charming escape for families and beach enthusiasts alike, although it lacks direct beach access. Start your adventure with a visit to the stunning Dedham Vale, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can embark on scenic walks along the River Stour, perhaps even taking a leisurely boat ride to soak in the tranquil surroundings. Just a short drive away, the coastal town of Frinton-on-Sea beckons with its pristine sandy beaches and vibrant beach huts, perfect for a family day of sun and sand. Art lovers will appreciate the nearby Flatford Mill, the iconic scene painted by John Constable, where you can explore the charming grounds and take part in art workshops. For a touch of history, the Colchester Castle, England’s largest Norman Keep, is a must-visit, offering engaging exhibitions and beautiful gardens. When it comes to accommodations, consider staying in the quaint hotels around Dedham, such as the iconic Dedham Hall, where attentive service and comfortable amenities await. After a day of exploration, unwind in the inviting lounge or dine on locally sourced cuisine, ensuring your family feels pampered and well taken care of.
