A work in progress, lots of room for improvement
Pretty property run by two lovely sisters from Toronto. Unfortunately, the property fails on some core missions. The "comfort double rooms" feature rather ascetic bedding and are not really set up for more than one person: the interior shutters and the bathroom door swing into the room making it very tight if not impossible to navigate at night. Also the cabins are poorly built for this climate; they are very hot and don't have any airflow or hot air ventilation. The overhead fans don't provide much relief on any setting, even at night when it cools off outside, as there are only windows on one side. Cabins are also buggy with gaps in the floors, and the fans prevent hanging a mosquito net. There is a small yoga deck, but it is only useable for about 1 hour in the morning as there is no shade of any kind. Oddly, there is no meditation space on site either. The "spa" allows access to massage therapy, but treatments are very expensive. The "bar" was never open at all and the "restaurant" had slow and limited service. Guests routinely went elsewhere for meals, coffee, snacks and drinks. Also noteworthy: this property is not easily accessible for those with physical limitations or vision loss. All in all, there is a lot of room for improvement and better options on the island.

Dear Daniel,Thank you for your feedback and appreciation of our property and warm hospitality of our two lovely sisters from Toronto. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences and are committed to improving our guests' experiences.Nestled on Little Corn Island, our retreat caters to adventurous travelers seeking a unique escape, offering a tranquil atmosphere without cars, banks, and hospitals—perfect for those embracing an active and wellness-focused lifestyle.During your stay, we addressed concerns by enhancing amenities, we’re covering the yoga deck and providing an exclusive meditation space. If you booked a smaller cabaña, we recommend our larger ones for a more spacious retreat for couples. We're addressing concerns like a small window addition and have repaired the bathroom door swing. Our cabins, built since 2015, are resilient to tropical weather. To improve cabin comfort, we suggest switching the ceiling fan direction, we have screens on windows. Gaps in rustic wooden cabin floors are sealed, enhancing comfort while maintaining their unique charm.Check our Instagram for updates on upgrades and wellness services. Our restaurant and bar, open daily from 9am to 6pm, feature fresh seafood and popular dishes like seafood Ron Don. Reservations, often preferred, are recommended. We're pleased to have served you during your stay, delighted to see you relishing our fresh menu, and look forward to welcoming you again. We're grateful you enjoyed spa services and your treatments with our experienced therapist. We take pride in offering unique treatments, such as popular "Take Me to Paradise" chocolate massage featuring organic cocoa from a farm in Nicaragua. Ensuring a memorable and affordable experience for our guests.we value your input as we continuously strive to enhance our guests' comfort. We look forward to welcoming you back for an enriched experience.Best regards,The Lighthouse Hotel and Spa Management
