From downtown Niagara Falls, follow the Niagara Parkway upriver towards Fort Erie, which is home to some of the best beaches in the area, including Crystal Beach, Erie Beach and Crescent Beach. Or follow the Parkway north towards the pretty town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, passing by wineries and orchards along the way.
For something further afield, drive two hours southwest of Niagara Falls to the sand spit of Long Point. Here you’ll find Long Point Provincial Park – popular with day-trippers and campers – and the UNESCO-listed Long Point Biosphere Reserve, an important wetland complex for more than 370 species of birds.
