Located on one of Chicago’s famous streets, you’ll be a 5-minute walk from the historic Gold Coast beach and intimate views of Lake Michigan. The property is also within walking distance of the subway, where you can connect to the L trains, and the Magnificent Mile. It is the perfect place to stay for adventurous travellers and those who fancy a beach in the City! The Space: A beautiful home nestled nicely amongst greenery. Upon stepping into this 4-bedroom townhouse, you’ll be struck by the vast size and traditional decor combined with modern chic. There is a large reception room as you enter; it’s a perfect spot for an afternoon read or seeking peaceful refuge should you not want to watch TV in the sitting room. You'll also find a fully equipped dining room and kitchen fit for amateur chefs and foodies alike. Going up the stairs takes you into a lounge with comfy sofas and a fireplace—perfect for chilly and windy Chicago winters! Our Chicago Townhouse is a holiday rental that becomes a home—you won't want to leave! PARKING PARKING We have a small garage located at the back of the property that is usable for guests. It can comfortably accommodate a smaller-sized car (VW Golf or similar); however, it is not large enough to fit SUVs, minivans, trucks, or larger estate cars. Garage measurements (note these are max allowances). are as follows: Width: 8ft / 243cm Height: 5.5ft / 167 cm Depth/length: 13 ft / 396cm \*\*Note: We are not liable for parking costs if your vehicle doesn't fit, or if you damage your vehicle getting in/out of our car park. The home was clean and spacious. The garage was a plus. The house is conveniently located in the heart of Chicago with easy access to all Chicago’s neighborhoods. Gibson’s Steakhouse and the Original House of Pancakes are on the same street and both were hits with my teenagers. It was great to stay in a beautiful grey stone in Gold Coast. Better yet it is located in an excellent area, less than 1/4 mile walking distance to the lake, around the corner from Michigan Avenue shopping, the Hancock Building, the Drake, Lou Malnati's and other great restaurants, and pharmacy-- we walked to all of these places! It felt like a home away from home with the layout of the home and nice neighborhood. It was stocked up with everything one needs in the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and family spaces. The interior was clean, welcoming and nicely decorated. My family was in town for my daughter's wedding and it was the perfect house for pre- and post-wedding activities. From when I reserved the house almost a year ago, to checking in, to checking out, were seamless. Julian was very responsive and clearly communicated all relevant information for the stay. It was noted the internet was not working upon check in, I notified Julian and in less than a couple hours, we had internet. The entire stay of 5 days were wonderful for me and my family. The experience setting it up to sadly checking out were pretty straightforward and easy. A big thank you to Julian and Jackie for the positive experience and the hospitality! ##### Angela E. We stayed at this townhome because our daughter was running in the Chicago marathon. The location could NOT have been any better. It is a very short walk to the Magnificent Mile and close to the race start/finish, and there are grocery and restaurant options nearby. We were looking for a four bedroom place and I couldn't find anything else that fit the bill, so we are very glad to have had this. The home is old, so has some issues that one might expect. However, on top of those, the floors were not very clean, the fan above the stovetop didn't work, and there were even some tips of nails (the sharp part!) sticking out of the hall floor on the third floor. The radiators are extremely noisy when heating up. One should know that it is 39 steps from the main level to the master (which was not a problem for us). The property managers were very responsive to inquiries before, during and after our stay. Having noted all that, we were happy with our stay overall. ##### Mary S. I generally find that AirBNB/VRBO properties tend to be much worse in reality than they seem in the listing, but I actually think they undersell this property. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the messaging from the host after booking until check in. Host was very serious about no parties/events (we had no intention of this) and that post-10pm (the listing says 11pm, feels like bait and switch) must be quiet, and if not the host will call private security/evict you/shut off power and water. These are pretty serious measures to throw around and made me feel very uneasy despite having no intention of having a party. Perhaps they did have a bad experience in the past but threat of eviction/shutting off power and water is too serious unless I would have broken some law with the noise, but the mention of private security made me feel that the bar for "noise" could be unreasonably low. ##### Andrew K. A real treat if you haven’t stayed in an 1880’s townhome before. Yet it’s updated and feels modern as well. Place was clean when we arrived, no issues. The location is among the action but also in its own quiet corner so you feel you can escape the city. Three floors means a lot of stairs, so if you’re mobility challenged keep that in mind. Our early model Toyota Camry fit the garage, but check the provided dimensions cause it really is tight.
