Great Hotel in the heart of the Magnificent Mile

Posted 29-Aug-2016
Location: Shopping, food of all prices, art and theater all within walking distance. The Rosebud Steakhouse just across the street is excellent.
Great hotel, great location, great service. Will stay here again on my next trip. Steven at the lobby bar is a local expert on the are have a cocktail and ask him for dinner recommendations. Only downside there is no on property parking. Use the parking garage directly across the street.

Great position just off Michigan Avenue.

Posted 26-Aug-2016
Pros: Bed,shower, breakfast, room cleaned very well,Andre's service, location.
Cons: Front desk, lifts, decor of halls, noise of mechanisms outside room at night.
Location: Location first class right next to John Hancock Centre at top of Michigan Avenue. All attractions accessible, most by foot.
Bedrooms comfortable, beds, shower and storage excellent. Service in restaurant, lobby and door very good. Little disappointed with desk as on arrival and departure there appeared to be a lack of interest and attention to whether our stay was enjoyable. On the other hand the waiting staff particularly were superb. There was a continual hum outside at night which I presume was something to do with the air conditioning mechanisms however this was solved with ear plugs. This hotel is in a great position and was value for money, just please after a long flight be a bit more welcoming on the desk as in other hotels in the States I have visited the customer is generally treated enthusiastically and attentively.

Decent Hotel

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: The location is great!
Cons: The hotel could be updated.
Location: Shopping, restaurants, Navy Pier, Lake Michigan...
Hotel bathroom is updated, but not very good craftsmanship. The room was clean, bed was old, but sheets were comfy. The hotel has a funny smell and I think its from people smoking in it over the years and the smell never completely left. A mix of old smoke and some sort of air freshener to try to cover up the old smell. It was good for a night.

Nice place overall.

Everyone was friendly and the place was very nice. only complaints are that the valet is crazy expensive but it's Chicago and there are no vending machines in the hotel forcing you to pay for way overpriced things out of mini bar.

Great price in a great area

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: Nice room, great staff and elegant hotel.
Cons: Elevator maintenance. Only 1 elevator was working at the end of my stay.
Location: Chicago 360 is a block away. Beach many restaurants and a mall within walking distance.
Booked this hotel as one of those featured hotel which I didn't get the name until it was booked. Its in a really nice area of Chicago and walking distance to the beach. Staff was super friendly and willing to help. Room was great and the atmosphere of the hotel was very elegant. Downside is the valet parking is expensive. They suggested parking across the street but found cheaper parking elsewhere. Did not like the elevators though as well. They were small and people would try and crowd the elevators since it took a while to get the elevator. Overall was a great experience at an older hotel.

elegant ... wonderful Chagico Location

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: Location and the room upgrades since the last time I was there are very nice.
Cons: Better service at the bar.
Location: Took in a play at the Goodman ... lovely. Walked the beach to Navy Pier ... shopping and great restaurants.
Loved the room, easy check in and the bell man was charming and very accommodating. Tried to stop in the bar early afternoon on both days for a coke to re-charge and it was either difficult to get service or none was available. One of my favorite places to stay.

Average hotel in great location

Posted 21-Aug-2016
This historic hotel could be beautiful but is not in the best condition and needs some TLC, we were disappointed. The location was perfect for our weekend stay; attractions, lake, shopping all close or within very easy walking distance. Room was tiny but clean. No guest services or emergency information in room and when we asked they said it was on the computer... but no computer in the room! Also, phone did not work so we had to use our cell phones to contact front desk. Will choose a different hotel for next visit to Chicago.

Would love to stay here again!

Posted 21-Aug-2016
This hotel is very centrally located on the magnificent mile. It's an easy walk to Rush Street for all the wonderful restaurants. It's a beautiful old hotel with very updated And comfortable rooms. The bathroom lighting was a little dark, however, that was my only complaint. I would definitely stay here again!
