Great hotel right in Downtown

Posted 24-Nov-2017
From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we had a wonderful time. The front desk agent was absolutely wonderful upon check-in (really wish I caught her name as she does deserve recognition). The room was great with an amazing rain shower and a large comfy bed. Lots of room to lounge about and convenient location to everything we wanted to see and do. Will definitely be back as well as recommend to others.

They allowed us early check in which was nice but room may previously have allowed smoking so it smelled slightly. Great price for us ($98) during thanksgiving week.

Very old hotel with staff that don’t really care

Posted 21-Nov-2017
Check in staff not really friendly or chatty.. checked us in for our 6 night birthday stay no welcome no questions as to why we are in town... only pointed to the old slow lifts and said that way..... took us ages to wait for the lift, got to the room first impression was it’s pretty basic. Dated but ok... I was expecting something abit more up market... ac doesn’t work only heat.... vent in the bathroom doesn’t work so no air whilst in shower... view was over other rooms in hotel... seems to me that the hotel doesn’t really care about guests... concierge were not very helpful... so made our own plans for the week... check out was basic and again no conversation at all... only “please come back sometime” I said no thanks... on initial complaint I was told someone would get back to me... no one did... 2 good things about this hotel were the maid... she was so sweet and chatty... and the location.... there are sooooo many wonderful and reasonable hotels along the magnificent mile... personally I would not recommend this place... it was meant to be a relaxing birthday week which I did enjoy but was let down by this hotel....

Not Worth it

Posted 20-Nov-2017
Pros: It's a vintage hotel, has a very classic look.
Cons: clean rooms and affordable valet
Location: Great shopping and food in walking distance
First I arrived and wait 15min. for the $67 valet, that never came, had to go in to the hotel to ask for valet. While checking in I asked the front desk if they validate the Valet (Most places do, especially if you are making a large purchase at their establishment) the front desk said yes and we have free in and out privileges till 5 pm the next day, this made me feel better about the wait, until I woke up in the morning to the $67 valet bill slide under my door. To add insult to injury, when I get out of the shower I see blood splattered on the wall next to the toilet. Upon check out I told the front desk staff, she went up to check, said she "didn't see any blood" but would give me a $10 off of my Valet that I was originally told would be validated, While she was trying to process my $10 discount she ended up charging my card multiple times. The manager did end up helping her and increased my discount for the inconvenience from $10 to $47 but this was also for something the night before I was under the assumption I wasn't going to get charged for at all. I would never stay there again even if it was free, lost a customer for life...

Close to shopping

Posted 19-Nov-2017
Beds were soft ,need to upgrade to firmer mattress and bring back your store so you want leave the hotel to go around the corner to the store. But you are in the middle of shopping where you can walk to your favorite store, The staff was nice and no room service need to bring it back 😞

beautiful property really enjoyed staying

Posted 17-Nov-2017
Beautiful property the staff is very friendly and everything was comfortable close to everything in walking distance. I would stay again. For the price it is fantastic. This kind of architecture is less and less so when it was remodeled they did a great job. The bed was comfortable and very fine linen and clean room the one I stayed.

Well it was a nice stay but the only problem I had was there was no vending machines for water or sodas or even a quick snack. All hotels has vending machines???

Nice for price

Posted 16-Nov-2017
Pros: close to shopping and food, price was fair, great size room, staff friendly. Cons: temp controlled rooms, had to have a fan brought to room and window open to get room to 68 deg in Nov., rain shower head is silly in a standard tub/shower configuration, no room service.
