Q: Is the neighborhood safe? A: Very much so. 24 hours a day.
Q: PARKING? A: There is a private driveway that fits up to one mid-sized SUV. In addition, we also supply parking stickers for zone parking on the street- these will be used for larger vehicles (bigger traveling vans/over-sized trucks/full-size SUVs). Not paying for parking in this area of Chicago is a huge plus!
Q: Do I need to bring towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, a hair dryer, or linens? A: Nope! we provide all these things.
Q: When can I check in or check out? A: Check in is 4pm and check out is 10am. Early check ins can be difficult if there are guests who check out on the same day of your check-in.
Q: Can I come and go as I please? A: Yes. And we wouldn't trust any listing with which this isn't the case.
Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and we take pride in providing a clean home for guests.
Q: What's my total booking price? A: We honestly have no idea. With fees included, it only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and it actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so we don't actually control this.
Q: Are the beds comfortable? A: Very. Some guests say they're the best they've ever slept on!
Q: Is this all one unit? A: No. Just to be clear these are technically two separated living areas, each with their own main entrance.

My coworkers and I had a wonderful time at this perfectly located property. The property had plenty of privacy, charming At CB textural character, and was perfectly located for shopping and dining. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a little reunion with friends and it was the perfect getaway for a long weekend. We had a private chef come in and serve dinner, and the large kitchen and stove top range made it incredibly easy for them to prepare the meal!
It's minutes from great restaurants and drink and has easy access to Old Town. Would stay there again!
Property was lovely, location amazing, and we had a wonderful time. Seven family members some from NY some from IA met in Chicago to catch Mets/Cubs games and more importantly catch-up w/ each other. Lots of laughs and good time. Hosts were very easy to contact and we would def. stay again :)
Really enjoyed our stay here- was very nicely appointed and kept up, the owners were very easy to communicate with, was in a great part of town. Would definitely stay here again. Loved the rooftop patio!
Rooms: great, comfortable beds, cute bathrooms. Didn't realize for 10 people it was 2 units, but only inconvenient when it rained.Host: helpfulParking: accurately described, we squeezed a midsized suv, but unable to fit a suburban. Street parking was convenient. Nearby: lots of restaurants and "old town," and green space just a few blocks away by Lake Michigan
Family trip with grown children and one grandson, loved the location. Close to many restaurants, bars, comedy club and much more on Wells. House was comfortable and clean. The few things we’d change about our trip (record setting heat and street construction outside our door) were unexpected but we survived! We had a great time showing our kids the city we love. Don’t sleep on the Chicago Museum of History - we’d missed it in previous visits but was a short walk from the house.
Overall the place was great. The host was quickly responsive to any questions we had. The bedrooms were comfortable. The space was great for our family. It was big enough to spread out and have privacy if needed. If you plan on using the futon first check with the host. We did not need it but they let us know it was not really functional during our stay. The upstairs bedroom had enough space for our own blow up mattress that we brought with us for the kids. The only drawback is the smaller bedroom downstairs is very musty smelling. we brought some air freshener that helped a bit. The location is unbeatable. Close to the train and very walkable.
We had two families stay over the weekend into Tuesday. It was roomy enough. There were air mattresses avail for our 9th person. However, that one had a leak in it. We enjoyed the outside deck and grill. We were running low on propane and the owners communicated with us promptly and were willing to exchange the tank the next morning. The owners were very responsive. The instructions were real easy. The owners were great about little amenities including shampoo, coffee grounds, and laundry detergent. Super helpful and convenient. And the area is super nice and safe. Check in and check out instructions were simple and easy. I would stay here again.

The only 5 star rating were the pictures
There are 2 units, an upstairs 2 bed 2 bath and the downstairs, a garden apartment. The upstairs unit was updated 30 years ago, on the cheap unprofessional work starting with the kitchen and bathrooms, Home Depot quality, done by handyman that was clueless. The downstairs unit, 2 bed 1 bath, was pretty much redone the same way only worse for the ware and glaringly in need of paint and updating. The paint was peeling on the damp wall, it was dark and dungy, no redeeming features. By far not worth the money I paid for 7 days. Sorry didn’t know about being able to upload photos, I would have had nice ones to illustrate my point.
Wife and I visited Chicago with our 2 adult kids and decided on this property because of location and separate living areas. The lower unit was perfect and safe. The free parking was very helpful. The upper bedroom was fine, you have to walk through it to get to rooftop deck. As long as the person sleeping there doesn't mind the traffic it works fine. The owners were always fast to reply to may questions. My only suggestion is to provide extra main house key or use a keyless entry so multiple people can come and go. Also using keys seems unsecure method. 5 stars!
Beautiful remodel of a classic/historic property. It was clean and perfectly located. We were a party of 7 adults aged 32 - 84 yrs. In the main unit, the upstairs queen was a good bed and the downstairs king bamboo mattress bed was very soft. None of our party felt it was firm enough. My husband found it miserable. My elderly parents needed to be in the lower unit because of the steps. Unfortunately, the 2nd bedroom in the lower unit was so small, I could not in good conscience put my parents in that room and my husband (6'3") and I were not willing to squeeze in to either. So the two of us decided to just to find a hotel nearby.
Our weeklong visit was everything that was promised—and more! We had quick communication months before we arrived in getting special requests to prepare for our Thanksgiving plans with out of town family. We were able to confirm that there was all the needed kitchen items to cook our traditional family feast and even preordered delivery from the recommended grocery store for all our items. We rented both levels of the building which allowed us to have “our space” when needed but still socialize together. Having access to 2 kitchens & 2 laundry machines was very convenient. Matt was so kind to make sure that us Floridians had plenty of DuraFlame logs for the cold nights but we did use the rooftop patio to hang out which has a nice grill.
The building is so convenient for getting around if you don’t want to be in the Loop area. We either walked or took Uber to get to further locations. The location is so convenient to a lot and in a cool area. We felt very safe and the people who live in the neighborhood are very friendly on their dogwalks! We went to many of the places Matt recommended and they were spot on! Orso’s Italian restuarant is literally next door and very old school and they have a heated patio area too. We picked up from Small Chevel’s for an awesome burger & fries and walked the 200 steps home to enjoy next to the fire. I went to Pure Barre 4 times which was the same distance and surrounded by nice boutiques and salons. Plum Market is a organic-style grocery store steps further and has a nice coffee shop. We also walked a few blocks to go to a Second City comedy show. Truly super convenient to be a tourist without all the hustle-bustle!
Property was as advertised.
Renters should note that there are 2 separate apartments with separate entrances and keys. Digital keyless entry would be an improvement.
The place was a fantastic location. We pretty much walked everywhere the entire weekend from this unit. Having 2 separate units was nice. Beds were comfortable.
We were in town for our Son's wedding. The Old Town Chicago house was perfect! We rented both the top and bottom floors. Everyone kept saying how cozy the place was even though there was plenty of room to spread out and the rooftop deck was just the icing on the cakes not to mention the very comfortable beds!!! Thank you Matt and Wendy
The house worked well for two adult couples. Plenty of space. And we loved the location! So many great restaurants and the lake and zoo within walking distance.
Wendy and Matt responded almost immediately when we had questions. We would stay here again!
This property was perfect for 10 girls! The main kitchen and living area was great for a central hang out space, as well as the rooftop patio. The downstairs is a separate entrance, but it worked well for our group to have a separate area for sleeping/getting ready. Location was absolutely perfect - walking distance to all of the great restaurants and bars in Old Town and not a long walk to the lake. Wendy and Matt were super easy to work with. Place was clean and in great shape. Would stay again. 10/10 recommend!
We had a group of 10 girls for a bridal party and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to say. Walking distance to so many good restaurants and bars which prevented us from spending money on Uber’s. Wendy and Matt responded quickly to any questions we had! The bride didn’t know what the place looked like before she arrived and she was blown away! Also the 2 separate living areas worked out great for a group of 10! Thanks again!
Two separate living areas with full kitchens able to accommodate 7 adults comfortable. The rooftop patio is equipped with a gas BBQ and ample seating. The location is walkable to a grocery store, restaurants, Red and Brown lines, buses, Lake Michigan AND much more (less than 2 miles to Chicago Riverwalk).
