The toilet needs to be fixed and the air conditioner was on so high that it was uncomfortable (too cold). The temperatures outside were not hot during the time of our stay. So, it didn't seem necessary for it to be so cold inside the apartment. The owner was very kind at turning it down but shared that it cooled the entire building. So, it couldn't be turned completely off. He controled the air conditioner. It took effort to get the toilet to flush that required me to remove the lid and lift something for it to flush. ##### Jimee J. It reeked strongly of dog and definitely needed a refresh. I contacted the owners, and while they were apologetic, cleaners weren’t able to come until around 6 PM even though check-in was at 3 PM. We left for dinner and the arcade, and when we returned, the smell was still there—just a little lighter, likely because they vacuumed.The bedding had an odd odor, and one pillow smelled as if it had gotten wet and put away without drying properly, so I couldn’t use it. The whole place could benefit from a deep carpet cleaning and some air freshening. We even lit the partial candle left behind, which helped slightly.There was also no hand soap in the bathroom, which I feel is essential and should be provided. On the positive side, the towels, toilet paper, and paper towels were good quality, and the shower was fantastic. The green paint in the bathroom is gorgeous, and the binder provided in the entryway had helpful info about check-in/out, restaurants, and the L train. However, it mentioned marked trash bins we couldn’t find, and the toaster oven’s numbers were completely worn off, making it hard to use.Overall, our stay wasn’t terrible, but the unit’s cleanliness and small missing essentials definitely need attention to make the experience more comfortable. ##### Kimmy R. Close to transit, restaurants, grocery, has a parking spot. It was ok clean, had dog hair. No cover sheet on the bed, and found some damp ones in the closet. Perfect for 2 adults and 2 teens. Extremely close to Blue Line into Chicago. Easy drive to Wheaton (could have easily taken the Metra instead). Recommend Cuzzo pizza and Addis Cafe in Oak Park. One of us came down with a cold- grocery and drugstore nearby, and we spent the day playing cards and watching movies. Kitchenette was great for making our own (read: cheap) breakfasts each day. Great location. Great parking. Clean with a caveat. No top sheets and it is impossible to know when the last time the comforter was washed, but it looked clean.The bed situation is not good. There is only one of the 3 beds that are at ground level and that bed is a little bigger than a twin bed. The other 2 beds are up 3 pretty big steps with no handrails. Pretty dangerous in the middle of the night. There is no thermostat to adjust the heating and cooling. According to my watch it was 65 degrees in the unit when we got there. Have to write the owner through VRBO messaging to get the temperature adjusted. There is only one thermostat for the whole house and there is only so much they can adjust it. So they suggested that we open the windows and close all of the vents. It was hot outside that the unit ran all the time. Condensation from the air ran down the walls and soaked the carpet. Don't know if that happens when it gets hot or was a malfunction. Owner said they would have someone come take a look after we departed. Nice place. Nice bathroom. Good space but be aware of the issues, especially the bed situation. ##### Robert M. Very affordable price for the area. House was overall clean but the sofa pillows had some rips, there were hair in clumps in several places like the bathroom floor and on the couch, the doorknob on a bedroom was not all the way installed, and there was no light in the stairway to get to the unit. The owner did message me before our stay and tell me that the cleaners didn't show and that a new company would be coming out right before we arrived.
