The world-famous annual film festival sets the city alight in May, but the glitz and glamour continue throughout the year in Cannes. The designer bars, super yachts and fine dining firmly identify the city as a playground for the rich and famous.
If you’re thinking of travelling in May for the film festival, then you’ll need to book flights and accommodation well in advance as things can get very expensive. The rest of the year it’s easier to find budget flights to Cannes with Expedia, with the long and hot summer being a prime time to visit.

Nice Cote d’Azur Airport is the main international hub for the region, located about 30 minutes’ drive from Cannes. It serves more than 13 million passengers every year across its two terminals, with scheduled and seasonal flights across Europe. It is the third busiest airport in France, a focus city for Air France and an operating base for easyJet.
Several airlines offer direct and connecting flights to Cannes from the UK airports.
Walking is often the most pleasant way to get around, and it allows you to discover some of the more hidden parts of the city. However, bus services are also good with access to neighbourhoods such as La Bocca and Le Cannet. Tickets can be purchased at stops or on the bus. Car rentals are also readily available, although parking can sometimes be an issue.
Explore the narrow, winding streets of the old town with an excellent view from the castle at the top. Then head to the covered market for some of the best food in town. Marvel at how the other half live at the Vieux Port, with its rows of super yachts or head to one of the city’s beaches. But be aware they are mostly private and can cost around 30 euros a day for access.
UK passport holders do not need a visa for travel to France. The currency is the euro and they are one hour ahead of GMT.
