"I had a truly wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything—from the comfort of the rooms to the excellent facilities—was of the highest standard. CLOUD Pillow Creek Private Homestay

10/10 Excellent

"Great location, walkable to everything close to the tunnel / walk with several great restaurants and massage and nail and lots of stuff… I actually walked back from Zangjiajie park … though it was close enough Staff was so nice and helped me book several attractions… , room could use some painting but I loved their fancy toilet bidet !!!"

Zhangjiajie National Park Nvue Resorts

10/10 Excellent

"An unforgettable stay, Exceptional Hospitality at Its Finest! I have stayed in many places around the world, but I can truly say we have never experienced such an excellent level of service at any other hotel before. This is, without a doubt, one of the best hotels we have ever visited, and the hospitality we received is unmatched. A massive, honorable mention goes to Chelsey and Robert at the front desk. They were absolutely incredible and went completely above and beyond for us. Their outstanding assistance made our trip perfect. Not only did they carefully guide us through the park, but they were also right there to solve literally every single problem or question we had during our stay. Furthermore, the fact that Chelsey and the rest of the staff spoke such excellent English made a world of difference for us. It immediately made us feel so much more comfortable and genuinely at home. If you want a flawless stay where the staff treats you like family and goes the extra mile, this is the place to be. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Chelsey, Robert, and the entire team!"

XMAN Sunrise Peaks Resort

10/10 Excellent

"The room was well appointed and had a scenic view of the mountains. The shower had hot water and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with all kinds of services available. The breakfast was tasty with a wide assortment of options. Good coffee machine with espresso. The area is quiet and secluded - I saw some beautiful birds in the nearby trees. I also tried food from their restaurant and it was cooked well."

Zhang Jiajie Zhijue Art Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"It’s a nice basic hotel, nothing fancy but the golden ticket is : Amy!! What would I do without her help! She was absolutely fantastic! I was there for only 2.5 days and weather was iffy. I was a bit disappointed that my trip was going to be affected by the bad weather, Amy booked all my tour visits, shuttles and made great recommendations that will go according to weather. I was absolutely impress! She was able to squeeze all my bucket list items in the short time I was there, even with the bad weather Don’t wait any longer! Book now!"

No.5 Valley Lodge

10/10 Excellent

"We truly loved the property and enjoyed our stay. The session with the tea master/calligrapher was wonderful. The staff was helpful throughout. Just a note to people unfamiliar with the area: the property is extremely close to the Western gate, which is very convenient for entry to the national park. If you are planning on entering the park through the middle or eastern gates, it is much less convenient. The park is enormous and the drive to the other gates can take an hour or longer. However, Western gate access is amazing!"

FunGee S Hotel Zhangjiajie National Park

10/10 Excellent

"Even before we arrived, we were already in the caring hands of the hotel's concierge, Susan，She tailored the perfect sightseeing itinerary around our schedule and the weather, and even sorted out our onward transportation to the next stop. Whatever we needed, she responded right away and took care of everything flawlessly. The hotel is full of thoughtful touches, but the standout for us was the laundry service — no matter how late we sent our clothes out, the next morning we'd open the door to find them washed, neatly folded, and waiting in the laundry basket. I thanked Concierge Susan in person for the wonderful care she gave our family of four. She told me she genuinely loves her job and does her utmost to make every guest's stay a joy — "that's what hospitality is all about," she said. As for the hotel itself, the location and facilities are simply impeccable. My only wish is that every hotel we stay at had a Concierge Susan."

Zhangjiajie XMAN Tianmen Resort

8/10 Good

"The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and their service was very generous; they were always trying to assist and were excellent guides on our tours. I should clarify that the breakfast is very basic, I completely understand that, but Robbie and her husband deserve top marks for their excellent service."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chaqiyu?

The best area to stay in Chaqiyu is typically within the Chaqiyu Town centre, as it offers the most convenient access to the region's main attractions and amenities.

Chaqiyu Town itself is the central hub for visitors. It's a compact area with most hotels, restaurants, and local services situated along the main thoroughfare, Chaqiyu Street. The town is located amongst rolling hills, providing a pleasant backdrop, and the Chaqiyu River often runs nearby, adding to the scenery.

For couples and solo travellers, staying in Chaqiyu Town is ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of the main entrance to the Chaqiyu National Forest Park, making day trips to explore the stunning landscapes, waterfalls, and hiking trails very straightforward.

When is the best time to go to Chaqiyu?

The best time to go to Chaqiyu is during spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for exploring.

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures and less rainfall compared to the summer or winter. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking along the Chaqiyu Grand Canyon or visiting the ancient town. The natural scenery is particularly beautiful in spring with blooming flowers and in autumn with changing leaf colours.

For travellers who prefer to avoid crowds, visiting in late spring or early autumn is a good option. The weather is still favourable, and you'll find the attractions less busy than during peak holiday periods.
