"Comfortable room, friendly staff. Had pleasant meal one night, and enjoyed cooked breakfast. Spent few hours in pub lounge, great atmosphere. Small point, we were in room 9 which was noisy at night due to extractor fan out
side. Other than that we enjoyed our stay."

This historic market town offers charming walks through the Peak District and cosy pubs serving traditional ales. Explore the 13th-century St Thomas Becket Church or time your visit for the annual Well Dressing festival celebrating local springs.
Lovely room, perfect for relaxing after a day out walking. Chosen because it was dog friendly and it did not disappoint - good for walking into town and loved that there was a map showing us how to get there by avoiding the main road. Breakfasts were delicious! Thank you for our stay.

Staff were extremely friendly, and my dinner the evening I arrived was delicious. I don't eat breakfast but the coffee was good. The setting of this place is just beautiful, I was sad to only be staying the one night.

We stayed here for two nights to visit family in the area. We happened to arrive on the day that the bar reopened so it was really busy. The staff were fantastic - they saved a parking space right outside for us and very helpfully let us have breakfast at odd times. Great service, even though they were just getting used to coping with the new covid/distancing requirements.
I was also very impressed that they closed the bar for a few hours in the evening as they felt it was getting too busy and...

This is the quintessential English vicarage and the perfect B&B. If you want to stay in a warm, welcoming and beautiful location, then look no further. The room was immaculate and breakfast perfect. Tricia and Andrew are excellent hosts and we could have happily spent hours chatting. They offered good advice on where to eat and where to go. If we return to the Peak District we won’t give a second thought to booking again.

We wanted to visit the local National Trust properties, which were all very worth visiting. The scenery was lovely (Peak District), and the pub we ate at was also very good - a recommendation of the hotel staff. We only stayed for three nights this time, but will be coming back for another visit sooner rather than later, and would hope to stay again at Newton House. The bar and lounges were nicely furnished and decorated, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
