The unit, restored by the host several years ago, is charming and well-located, but would benefit from additional maintenance and a deeper cleaning.
**Highlights**
* Easy 15-minute walk to Chania Old Town.
* Fantastic patio and rooftop views.
* Steps from the sea, adding to the property's charm.
* Thoughtfully restored with décor that matches the character of the house.
* Friendly and welcoming host and his wife.
* Excellent bakery (Coucou Bakery) just a 4-minute walk away.
**Drawbacks**
During our 3-night stay, we encountered several maintenance issues that required multiple visits and could likely have been prevented with a pre-arrival inspection:
* Bathroom sink was completely clogged and kitchen sink drained slowly upon check-in.
* After the clog was repaired, the drain was reinstalled incorrectly, allowing sewer aroma into the unit until it was fixed the following evening.
* We were without hot water one evening because a shared electrical breaker had tripped and required the host's intervention.
The unit also showed signs of deferred maintenance, including mold in the shower grout and inside some light fixtures. Due to its proximity to the sea, humidity is very high, and a dehumidifier runs continuously on the ground floor, where the pull out couch is, which may bother light sleepers.
Overall, we enjoyed our time in Chania and appreciated the property's charm, but the maintenance issues detracted from what otherwise could have been a much more enjoyable stay.
