We showed up at 9:53 for breakfast and they didn’t want to serve us unless we hurried so we skipped it and went to our other hotel. We didn’t use the pool or spa which was extra anyway. Easy walk to the train to get into town as well. However, our room was not a 4 star. Maybe 2.5 - 3 star. The advertised spa and hot tub are an additional charge of 20 Euros per person per hour, which was not evident in the hotels.com feature. The breakfast was very good. We booked this hotel so that we could have a chillout following a climb of Mont Blanc. PRO'S = Very clean and modern throughout. Nice pool area and outdoor dining area. Helpful and friendly reception team. Bedrooms are modern, comfortable, and very clean. CONS = Hospitality could be so much better. When we stayed the temperature was around 30+ degrees so very hot - the hotel does not offer drinks before 4pm and when asked the staff were reluctant to even provide a soft drink. The outdoor dining area is lovely and yet the hotel does not serve lunch!! this could be a real money maker for them and an obvious addition if they could be bothered. The hotel is completely on its own and so has a captive audience - there are literally no other options for food or drink in the area and that includes shops. Overall we liked the hotel but it could be so much more. However the room I was offered to begin with I would describe as a standard room with balcony. In my view just because a room has a balcony does not make it superior if it is the same size as a standard. On the second day the room was made up. Damp towels were put on top of the beds, used coffee cups were left, coffee and sugar wasn’t replaced. The dining area for breakfast was poorly run. Jars of jams had run out and not been replaced. Tables were left dirty, floor was sticky. Overall this hotel is poorly run, understaffed and the staff that do work there don’t do the job properly.
