Hotel and beach

Posted 02-Oct-2016
Pros: Clean tidy. Good size room.
Cons: Main bar inside needs an update. It's clean and tidy with comfortable seating but it just lacks a bit of atmosphere.
Location: You can walk along the coast line and visit German bunkers or old forts.
Very pleasant hotel with polite and helpful staff. Looks out on to Cobo bay. Very rugged coast line when tide is out. Decent looking beach although we didn't go on it. At night it pitch black outside . Bar and restaurant next door . Good food and pleasant atmosphere. If you want quiet then it's for you.

Lovely hotel lovely staff

Posted 27-Sep-2016
From the first step inside the hotel you were made so welcome nothing was any bother.I am disabled and had a walker with me and they made me very comfortable. The only problem was there were 5 steps to get to our room so you would need to check access, but they do have a lot. Would go again.

Great location by the sea

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location.
Cons: Would suggest they had a fixed price evening meal to accompany the a la carte
Location: The location by the sea is fantastic and Cobo Bay has an excellent beach for swimming etc. Wonderful sunsets. There is a direct road to St Peter Port
We stayed at the hotel for four nights. We had two single rooms which were very comfortable and excellent bathroom facilities (recently installed). My room was a little on the small size and the views (walls of the hotel) were not good. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice and very good service. The dining room overlooks the sea which is great. We had two evening meals which were very good but rather expensive. Car parking can be a problem but on most occasions we were able to park reasobaly close to the hotel.

Lovely situation, opposite the beach

Posted 17-Sep-2016
Pros: Excellent food, both breakfast and dinner.
Cons: Parking needs sorting out!
Location: Lovely location with good bus links to St Peter Port. The boat trip to Sark is excellent if you want a day out.
Hotel is ok if you upgrade to a room with a sea view and balcony. Unfortunately we didn't realise that this cost extra so our room was quite dark and dingy. Lovely outside eating area in nice weather, excellent food! Parking is an issue, when we checked in the receptionist directed us to a car park a long way away. We later discovered that we could park closer, apparently in the owner's garden! Overall a nice place to stay if you want a standard non luxury hotel.

Excellent hotel and staff

Posted 10-Sep-2016
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: the whole island is on the doorstep as it is a small island, get on the bus and go for it, go everywhere and anywhere you wont be disappointed
could throw a stone from the front door onto the beach, excellent holiday. Hotel was brilliant, travel on the island is cheap enough to go everywhere by local bus. Speed limit 35mph so lazy way of life. Stunning island with deep deep often sad history. Friendly people beautiful blue sea. The Cobo Bay Hotel is a little jewel with excellent staff and excellent food.

Pretentious hotel

Posted 09-Sep-2016
Pros: Location
We stayed at Cobo Bay hotel for two nights however were very disappointed. The entrance of the hotel is very hard to get in and out of if you have a car. The lobby area was dark and very small. The hallways to the rooms were not well lit and the room was extremely small. We could barely walk around the bed.

Hotel was immaculate throughout. The food is 1st class & very well presented, although a few slightly cheaper/lighter alternatives would have been welcome. The entire staff were faultless in their attentiveness & always on hand if required.

Comfort and wonderful sea views

Posted 03-Sep-2016
Pros: Comfort, the sea views, and the welcoming and helpful staff.
Cons: The lift! I had to get used to getting into a dark lift - rather disconcerting - and wait for the sensor to kick in and the lift light to go on. I thi
Location: After being involved Arundel Festival, all I needed to do was rest and relax - which I did. A few hours in St Peter Port were enjoyable, as usual.
I had a lovely, comfortable sea-view room, with a balcony, on which I spent a long time leaning! I looked out to sea, watched families running about and playing on the beach, and surveyed the restaurant below my balcony, which seemed to be used most of the day and evening. My balcony overlooked the hotel bar on the side, and I found the music it played a little distracting - but I'm sure others liked it. My bed was so large and comfortable, I had difficulty getting out of it. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were good. I had dinner on two nights, which was good, enabling me to watch the sun go down on the first night. The food was good, not outstanding, and I thought, rather expensive for what was served.

Holiday hotel on the beach.

Posted 21-Aug-2016
Pros: Friendly restaurant staff.
Cons: I think a realistic description of the bedrooms would help particularly for families wishing to share!
Location: Right on the sea front with good bus service to St Peter Port and around the island.
We were a family of 3, 2 adults and an 18 year old daughter staying for 10 nights in August 2016. We booked a superior double and asked for 3 single beds. The room was a bit tight with 3 beds but it was comfortable and we had a nice bathroom and a side balcony view of the beach and sunset. It was well cleaned every day and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal we had in the restaurant was very good. It is a shame there isn't a pool but the sea is so close it doesn't really impact too much on your stay! We were lucky in the weather was good during our stay and so we were out and about every day so only used hotel sparingly during the day.

Lovely hotel close to the beach

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Pros: The friendly staff, modern clean rooms and location of the hotel.
Cons: The noisy maids in the morning and make sure all reception staff know about the island as much as possible.
Location: Great location, so close the beach! You can get the bus just down the road from the hotel into town or anywhere else on the island for £1!
This hotel is brilliantly situated, opposite Cobo Beach which is one of the best in Guernsey. It is next to the Rockmount pub/restaurant which is great and also near the Cobo Tea Rooms and other amenities. The hotel restaurant feels pretty sumptuous but I was disappointed with the breakfast as I felt there was a lack of choice. You could only get cereals, yoghurts, fruit and some pastries and had to pay a lot extra for any hot or cooked breakfast. The hotel staff are friendly and eager to help, although one guy wasn't really knowledgeable about the area and it was easier looking up on my phone. My room was lovely, very clean and modern. However, it was at the end of the corridor and by a fire exit meaning it got very noisy in the morning with the maids who constantly came in and out of the fire exit and used the fire escape stairs located on the outside the building, which were just outside my bedroom. So I was annoyed with being woken up at around 8am each morning with all their clattering and chatting. I would have much preferred a quiet room. However, all in all and pleasant stay.
