Lovely relaxing stay

Posted 02-Jan-2016
Pros: The extra care you receive
Cons: It would be good if there were more instructions / details about the hotel in the room.
We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again.

Nice hotel, the only thing I'm disappointed with is the fact we could not eat in any of the restaurants. As they were fully booked! Its annoying as we checked in just after 4.00pm and after a long day travelling, this was not what we were expecting. You'd think the hotel would be able to cater for all there guests, obviously the restaurants are too small for the amount of guests, which stay.

Convenient for M4 and Newport

Posted 19-Nov-2015
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Ridiculous parking prices
Location: I was working in the area, so no chance to look at anything else !
A pleasant short stay. Windiest night of the year so my 10th floor window rattled all night. Room service was good, quick delivery, hot food, friendly staff.

Late night noise

Posted 18-Nov-2015
Pros: The staff were friendly and mostly ver attentive.
Cons: In the public area with the bar and piano we had live music competing with piped music.
Location: Convenient en route elsewhere
Excellent and friendly staff. The food was overpriced. Breakfast tasteless but well presented. Nice room but on floor 5 and above the dining area. It sounded as if furniture was being scraped as it was moved below. This went on late into the night and I could hear it despite earplugs.

Standards are deteriorating

Posted 03-Nov-2015
Pros: The shuttle driver (No. 1 Shuttle) was brilliant and the Resort general looks nice
Cons: Up-keeping of maintenance and general cleanliness -staff to undergo customer service training
Location: All facilities around seems good
I have been in and out of the Celtic Manor for the past 7 years and I have noticed significant rapid deterioration in their quality of service, especially with the catering staff and the general house keeping issues

Nice staff, poor room and not cleaned

Posted 30-Oct-2015
I stayed for one night and was very impressed with the hotel its self and the staff were very attentive and helpful. However on going to my room the bin was full, dirty tools on the desk and in the bath, water all over the table, used slippers on the floor and dirty and unmade bed. I tried to contact front desk and house keeping and the phone was unanswered. On going to the reception and highlighting the problem I had to wait an hour for the room to be cleaned and signed off. The staff were very apologetic but I expect more from a hotel of this standard and felt let down.

Wanted it to be so much better

Posted 30-Oct-2015 on Hotels
The hotel was nice enough - the room ok, cleanliness very good, physical condition of everything was fine etc. Yes, it technically meets the criteria to be properly classed as 5 star with concierge etc but it was genuinely a little amateur in its service - in all parts: reception, bars, definitely restaurant at dinner (dreadfully bored maître d' who just doesn't exude any warmth whatsoever for such a young lady), breakfast was verging on chaotic (who makes people queue up for toast in a five star hotel - especially when the extremely disinterested young lady working that area simply couldn't cope), ordering food at the bar area outside the main restaurant just lead to cold food being brought to our table as the one young lad serving there just couldn't cope on his own (although he was by far the nicest member of staff we encountered). So, all in all, it was ok. Just disappointing. We've been lucky enough to stay in some lovely hotels and it's always the professionalism and warmth of the staff that stands out to us ... that just didn't happen in Newport.
