Wir waren zuerst im Herrenhaus untergebracht, dann in einem Nachbargebäude. Beide Zimmer waren ausserordentlich schön. Der Service war sehr freundlich. Zu bemängeln gab es nichts. Allerdings sollten Reisende wissen, dass die Anfahrt über einen unbefestigten Weg erfolgt. Wifi gibt es nur im Herrenhaus. Nach einer Corona-Pause könnte hie und da die Fassade frisch gestrichen werden. Manor house is steeped in history, but the general upkeep of the buildings and gardens could do with a bit of tlc / sprucing up here and there - some areas felt a little neglected. Our stay at Hawksmoor house, while short, was beautiful. The property is stunning! It is a 300 year old working farm and every room has so much character. It felt like we were visiting the french countryside! The only thing to note is that this farm is a twenty minute drive from Stellenbosch, which was fine for us. The rooms are large and rustic but with plenty of modern amenities. I would have preferred wifi in the room as I need that while traveling but if that is not a necessity for you, then I recommend this as a great retreat from technology. The relaxed atmosphere, fantastic breakfast and attentive staff all added to a very enjoyable stay. Beautiful scented roses in the bedroom when we arrived and French melodies on in the kitchen. Room was very clean and had a modern bathroom. The only criticisms I can think of are that the wifi only works in the dining room, the slight brownish tinge to the bath water and small frog in the pool which some might find unpleasant, but we relished as typical of a house of this age and style.
