Calafell boasts a great heritage and idyllic beaches where you can really let your hair down. It also offers leisure and entertainment for the whole family.

Travel to the heart of the Costa Dorada during your holiday in Calafell, an excellent destination with some great cuisine, especially fish, and local regional wines. During the summer you can enjoy a wide range of water sports, such as surfing, windsurfing, paddle surfing, and more.

Take advantage of our cheap trips to Calafell to travel back in time: in the seaside neighbourhood, near Calafell train station, you will find the ciutadella ibèrica, the Iberian citadel, which dates from the 6th century and home to an important archaeological site Thanks to the reconstruction of the settlement, you can learn all about how the Iberians of ancient Cossetania lived.

The Roman villa of Vilarenc is the site of an archaeological excavation located near the Torrent de Montpaó River, where you will find the remains of a large building and a number of cisterns. More recent are the houses of the indianos, Spanish colonists who made their fortunes in the Americas and had extravagant estates built upon their return: Cal Perico, a mansion built in 1899, and the farmhouse of La Sínia are the most representative examples of this style.

At the centre of the Passeig Marítim promenade, next to the monument to fishermen, you can see the emblematic blue and white building of the Confraria de Pescadors from 1914. This ancient headquarters of the Fishermen’s Guild stretches out on to the golden sands of the platja de Calafell beach, over three uninterrupted miles of warm Mediterranean waters.

On the rocks located to the north of the city stands the Castell de Santa Cruz, a 10th century castle. The interior of this small medieval fortification hosts a museum where you can learn about the history of the Roman settlement on the hill, the later construction of the castle, and its importance throughout several wars.

Getting to Calafell is really easy, as it is very well connected with other cities by train and by road. Reus Airport is about 30 miles away, so that is also a good option.

Enjoy a family vacation at this wonderful destination with its beautiful long beaches with one of our package deals to Calafell. You have to try the rossejat before you leave, a traditional dish of golden, sautéed rice with fish. You can taste it in one of the many restaurants along the promenade with the relaxing sound of the waves in the background.

We loved the authentic Spanish/Catalunya town. There were no Brits around which was perfect for us. A great get away with lots of restaurants, supermarkets and a great beach!

Generally relatively quiet in early June which is exactly what we were after; was told the population of about 10k multiplies 5 fold during July & August!!
