Burford, according to Forbes Magazine “the sixth most idyllic place to live in Europe", is a beautiful town with an array of boutique shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and tea rooms lining the main high street. Burford has a number of artisanal food shops including The Burford Farm Shop, The Burford Cheese Company, The Bakery on the Hill and the renowned Mr. Bumbles. Kids will love the traditional sweet shop on the high street, and for an obscure bit of trivia you could pass by Reavley Chemist, Englands oldest pharmacy. A visit to Burford Garden Centre is well worth it and for a family day out, Cotswold Wildlife Park is a must with a variety of animals occupying beautiful grounds and gardens.
There are many villages to discover in the Cotswolds including Bourton-on-the-Water with many visitor attractions, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Camden, Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh all with their own character and an array of independent boutiques and eateries. The city of Cheltenham, home of the famous horse racing festival is 22 miles and historic Oxford is 20 miles. Charlbury station is 10 miles where you can catch the train to London Paddington in about 1 hour 20 minutes.
