Location..it has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. ( need a car)
Rooms are very comfortable, tea /kettle etc.
Stairs are a little steep.
staff are lovely ,had a very pleasant stay.
We arrived Saturday lunch time, they had a party of 40 in, but fitted us in and it was delicious! staff attentive and it arrived quickly so all good, so I am very sad ( and surprised ) to say breakfast was poor ! we didn't opt for the buffet and cooked ,rather just the cooked, it took ages to appear...

An excellent inn/accommodation with good food and reasonable prices. An old inn, much extend and beautifully decorated. Room are in the pub and 2 outside buildings. Only issue I would have is parking and access. . The site rises to the rear, both to the parking and the outside buildings. I use a walking stick and could just about manage the slopes and the stairs but severe walkers or wheel chair users would not. There is disabled parking (and electric charge points) availed. The pub is on the...

This is a very nice place to stay and the Inn over the road is a great place to eat. The rooms and communal areas have been very tastefully decorated and it is very comfortable. Only one point, some of the rooms overlook a road which is surprisingly busy even in the middle of the night - not great if you are a light sleeper.

Country hotel set in beautiful grounds, but modern and comfortable inside, friendly helpful staff and delicious food made for a relaxing short break. This was made even more special by a large delightful room and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.

Lovely little place. Very quite also. Wish the pub was open for drinks at any time but but not your typical pub. Food there was lovely though! Especially the sea bass.
Walk in shower was amazing! Great if you need an accessible rooms

Beautiful room in this small hotel. Breakfast was delightful. The menu was not traditional and I had yogurt with fresh fruit and seeds followed by Eggs, spinach, mushrooms and extra bacon! The staff were really helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel. Food was fine. Only negative was train line in the rear of the building. Bedrooms are too close and a bit noisy early doors. Ask for a front facing bedroom.

My wife and I stayed at Throstle Nest for 2 nights this week and had a great time. The Skiptonn area provides a lot to do and see and we found this Band B to be an excellent base. The setting is great with country views from the bedroom which was really well appointed with all facilities on tap.

Very friendly staff, nice big room (called falow),
excellent breakfast, excellent evening meal staff very helpful sorting out a taxi for us, the room was warm due to heatwave so needed to keep windows open so we did notice some noise from the kitchen fans but this could not be helped. Very good car parking. Overall an excellent 2 day visit and would highly recommend.

It's a nice pub that is part of the Thwaites chain. Menu doesn't cater well for Vegetarians and not at all for Vegans. Disappointing to see them burning coal on the fire in July, really thoughtless.

The best area to stay in Briercliffe is generally near the village centre, particularly around Briercliffe Road and its immediate surroundings.
This area offers the most convenience for visitors, with local shops, traditional pubs, and eateries dotted along Briercliffe Road. It provides a good base for exploring the local countryside and is well-connected to nearby Burnley for additional amenities. Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will find the village centre appealing. You're close to walking paths that lead into the surrounding hills and dales, offering scenic views. Dining options are cosy and intimate, superb for an evening out without travelling far.
Families will also appreciate the village centre's accessible location.
When is the best time to go to Briercliffe?
The best time to visit Briercliffe is typically during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mildest and most agreeable for exploring.
During these months, you'll find longer daylight hours and fewer rainy days, making it ideal for outdoor activities like walking the scenic footpaths around the village or visiting nearby attractions. The average temperatures are comfortable, usually ranging from 15°C to 20°C. This period is particularly good for families looking to enjoy the countryside without the chill of autumn or winter.
Couples might also appreciate the summer for its pleasant evenings, great for enjoying a meal at one of the local pubs or a stroll through the village. While Briercliffe isn't a bustling tourist hub, the summer months offer the best chance for pleasant conditions to explore the wider Lancashire area.
For those who prefer cooler weather and don't mind a bit of rain, the shoulder seasons of April and October can also be appealing.
