Pocket Guide: Breda

Hotels @ Breda

Breda is a beautiful city, renowned for its architecture and important national monuments. It’s great for those looking for a bit of retail therapy, thanks to its sizable shopping area. Breda is also a top city for those looking for a night on the town, having some great nightlife spots and it’s annual Carnival, which is celebrated around the city’s gorgeous harbour.

A Hotel in the City Centre

Booking accommodation in the city centre will mean you’re always close to the action and attractions. One of the most important is the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, a beautiful old church that is, along with the Castle of Breda, listed on the top-100 of Dutch monuments. The church has a royal history, housing a mausoleum of the ancestors of British King William’s House of Orange, also the line of the Dutch royal family.

The Castle of Breda now houses the Royal Millitary Academy and sporadically opens to the public. Behind the century-old building it is possible to walk around in the oldest park of Breda: the Valkenberg.

In the city centre you will also find a harbour. This is a great location for a romantic dinner and drinks. You’ll also find top attractions close to the harbour, such as the Spanjaardsgat and the Prinsenkade.

Mastbos

Get your walking boots on and explore nature at Mastbos, the most well-known and most popular forest of Breda. Take a hike here and enjoy the century-old trees, beautiful avenues and wonderful vistas.
