Private pool is very dirty, totally unable to use it. No shower gel, hair dryer, kettle is not heatable. We believe that property is not being clean before we arrive. Ants running around and cockroaches. Totally disappointed."

We visited the Spa everyday we were there. AU and SA give the best massages, facials and are most accommodating. AU gives the BEST Thai massages! You have to visit the spa and ask for these two. ![Thai Views | Wat Khao Takiap: Though I have been living in the Asia for about 8 years and with a majority of Asian nations being predominantly Buddhist, I have never truly looked into the practice. Sure, I’m vaguely familiar with the meditation and enlightenment aspect of it but that has been the limits of my knowledge. Recently I have decided to take a deeper look at the practice and in turn a deeper look into myself.

At the core of Buddhism are The four Noble Truths, the first of which being that in life there is suffering. However the teachings guides you through the reasons for suffering and how to end suffering. One major cause to human suffering is our desire, craving such things as material goods and then leading to our attachment to them. With this identified one can choose to crave less and understand that the only thing permanent in life is impermanence. All that we have now will not last forever so why get attached to them when they will only cause us suffering when they are gone. I’m not talking on a superficial level that is only thought about in times of crisis but on a day to day basis.

Looking at this monk walking on the beach at the crack of dawn in only a robe and without shoes, I get it now. I don’t think I could be as disciplined as this but I got to start somewhere.

![Our walk along Hua Hin beach. The beach is about 5km long and the sand is much whiter than I remember. The beach is filled with some great hotels and on the North end of the beach it seems a lot cleaner. Hua Hin is about a 3 hour drive or a 5-7 hour train ride from Bangkok depending on delays. Hua Hin is popular for golf, health/wellness retreats and kiteboarding. ![Thai Views | Wat Khao Takiap: So what’s in the pose when it comes to the many postures of Buddha? Well there are no coincidences, that’s for sure. Along one of the many beaches of Hua Hin, Thailand, sits a tiny peninsula that houses Wat Khao Takiab. Like most temples, a statue of Buddha is displayed in some shape or form. Here the statue is one of a standing Buddha with the palms of both hands upright and facing outwards, called “Repelling the Oceans”. One common meaning of this posture is the belief that on a visit to India, Buddha used the power of meditation to repel a wall of water that was unleashed by a hermit in hopes to cause a flood. There is also a second meaning “Preventing the Relative from Fighting”. Situated along the coastline of Hua Hin, I would say the former meaning to be more fitting and as I mentioned, no coincidences and hopefully no flooding to come.

"Our top floor ocean view studio had huge but unusable balcony / sitting area but much too hot to sit out there due to overhead roof and confining walls, more like a tunnel than a balcony. Some sort of fan desperately needed. Hotel is beautiful. Staff wonderful, especially Big, probably not his real name but BIG is the name on his badge. A real assett to this hotel. Not a lot to do in the area, best and only local restaurant is Pran's Corner. Good value, good food, friendly staff, live music Friday - Sunday. Five 7elevens in the area but bicycle or taxi needed. Just one 7eleven within 'walking distance' if you have a couple of hours to spare and wear lots of sun cream. Hotel restaurantbis expensive plus 10% service and 7% tax, we tried it twice during ourcstay and dissapointed each time. Avoid the lasagne, had to teturn it to be reheated but still very low quality, poor value for money. Sheraton hotel next door, has La Luna Pran restaurant, similar prices but far better quality food. Overall we liked this hotel, the breakfasts were terrific. The grounds and facilities spectacular. Bicycle hire 50tbt per hour, ideal for a quick 7eleven shopping trip."

"Excellent value for money. Chilled out and literally 2 minutes walk to an array of bars/restaurants if you leave by the rear entrance. Staff were cheerful and helpful. Would I stay again?…….Yes One issue. Other guests putting towels on chairs/sun beds early and not using them for 1 or 2 hours. Management could stop this disrespectful action by some "
