The hotel is in a beautiful semi rural setting with plenty of free safe parking. The rooms although a little dated are comfortable , clean and with good ammenities. The hotels bar is welcoming and pleasant with friendly staff and good choices of drinks and food. Alex and another young chap ( not sure I got his name) were working the nights I was there. They were very friendly a great front for the hotel. My criticisms would be the walls are incredibly thin and I could hear talking and coughing from next door and in my last night someone was snoring so loud I was unable to sleep. Although I found most of the staff friendly and welcoming the lady and gentlemen who I encountered at reception on checkout did not leave a good lasting impression on me. Hardly gave me the time of day. Gentlemen never even looked at me. Was a shame after a great stay.

Great value for money, in a nice location. Could do with a bit of modernising in the corridors and bedrooms to match the bar area and the breakfast buffet was a little cold and disappointing, but you get what you pay for and a hot shower and a quiet room was what I needed.

The room i had was very cold and everything was very dusty. There was a heater in the room that was barely hanging off the wall and looked extremely rusted. Just wasnt a very nice room to stay in.

We liked the original windows and despite this and windows left open for ventilation it was warm The glass shelf in the bathroom and the hooks on the bathroom door needed fixing

We stayed in room 41 It must have been over the kitchen i was woken with banging and crashing every hour through the night i was totally shattered in the morning Its a shame because i stayed before over the other side of the building and all was good hence why i returned but unfortunately would put me off now in case i got the same noisy room again

Dirty Underwear in my room from previous guest!!!
The cleanliness was terrible. There was someone's used underwear left behind the door in my bathroom which I only found in the morning and made me feel sick! I notified the person behind the counter and he assured me that the Manager would call me ASAP as I was so disgusted I left without taking breakfast which I had paid for at booking. The Manager eventually called and apologised but did not have authority to refund any of my costs. I telephoned and spoke to him again today (3 days later) and he still did not have authority but assured me of a call back to which I still don't have at 18.15.

No sleep walls like paper , floor boards creak so much you get no sleep at all , customer upstairs was backwards and forwards all night at one point some paint fell from ceiling , I could hear room next door having a shower , don’t come if you need to sleep , uncomfy bed , windows wouldn’t lock and could be pushed open , and the signs threatening £50 if you take food to your room is ridiculous especially when the food downstairs comes out cold

Hotel was fine but i was disgusted at the potential to be fined for bringing any outside food or alcohol into my room.. Having paid a sizeable amount to stay at the hotel, I have never seen anything like it and it really left a sour taste. I would never go back and wouldn’t recommend anyone else to stay if that is how you’ll be treated. I was actually going to dine in the on-site restaurant but made a point of going out elsewhere for my meals so I didn’t have to give the place any more of my money.

This hotel/pub is budget budget budget. I was just traveling through the area and needed a place to stay. It was the cheapest I could find on Hotels.com and you can really tell. I will not be staying there again.

Convenient for NEC. 'Double bed' was actually two singles of different heights joined together which was not so comfortable. Excellent breakfast cooked to order. Plenty of drawers and hanging space in room. Personally, I don't like piped loud music while I'm eating breakfast - I prefer Radio 4 in the mornings.

It was a pleasant stay for the price. However, I stayed on the first floor, and the floor above creaked so much and so loud it was almost impossible to sleep. That really needs fixing. Other than that it was ok

Fine overall but spoilt by the loud music
Overall it was fine. Some minor maintenance issues with the bathroom - the cold tap on the basin dripped, the washer was missing between shower hose and head, and there was no plug on the basin. We reported these when we checked out but they didn't get written down. They're all things which housekeeping should have picked up on and reported. There was also no hairdryer in the room (we only stayed one night so only realised after emerging from the shower on the morning we were leaving) but I'm sure they would have found one if we'd asked. To be fair, I forgot to mention that on checkout. The thing that affected our stay most was the loud music in the bar and restaurant and outside. We had planned to dine there but the music was so loud that, having asked where the quietest spot was and been directed to one end of the bar where it was just as loud as everywhere else, we went somewhere else to eat instead (there are lots of places nearby). It wasn't bad music - just far too loud - at a lower volume it would have been quite pleasant. You couldn't relax over a meal or hold a normal conversation. There were lots of signs forbidding the consumption of food and drink from elsewhere in the rooms, which was quite unusual and implied that they had had a problem with this. I can't help wondering if this was partly because people had intended to eat in the bar/restaurant but also been put off by the volume of the music so got a takeaway and eaten it in peace in their rooms.

No issue with check in. Lovely friendly staff. We booked a family room which was a great size and there was a queen size bed and 2 singles which was great. We were in the ground floor room 4. There was a double door leading outside but when we asked for a key we were told there wasn’t one which was a shame because it was rather warm and there is no air con. The room itself was okay although it smelt a bit damp. Sadly the bathroom was in a poor state…..there was mould on the ceiling, the shower plug hole was rusty. The paintwork was filthy and flaking off. Now here comes the main issue. The toilet was literally hanging off the wall. When you sat on it, it moved and when you flush, the water spilled out of the back onto the floor so the floor was damp and mouldy. There were cobwebs all over the place and a few insects including a large beetle wading. Breakfast is not £6.95 as advertised on hotels.com We went to the bar which was nice, decent price drinks with happy hour and 2 for 1 meals. The staff were again really friendly. We had a meal which was okay. Beware there are signs stating that no outside food or takeaways are allowed on site and there will be a £50 fine. One of our kids is a fussed eater (neurodivergent) so we just made sure that we took out rubbish out discreetly. Overall it was a great locations and parking was free which was great. With some simple improvements, care and attention this place could be a little gem.

The room was basic but it needed a clean and maintenance. There was the cigarette butt on the floor under the desk so the floor obviously wasnt hoovered, the toilet that wasnt attached to the floor so moved with you, the shower leaked so flooded the room. The duvet cover was stained, the tv didn't get reception on any channel. Then there were the paper thin walls, we heard everyone walking past the room and those in the corridor above and below but even worse was hearing all the couples in the rooms having sex and explaining the noises to our 9 year old.
