The best area to stay in Bingen is along the Rhine promenade, particularly around the town centre, offering direct access to the river and its attractions.

This central area is the heart of Bingen, stretching along the banks of the Rhine. You'll find many hotels, restaurants, and shops concentrated here, especially near the Tourist Information Centre and the ferry terminals. The Mouse Tower (Mäuseturm) and Ehrenfels Castle ruins are prominent landmarks visible from the promenade. It's very walkable and provides easy access to boat trips and local eateries.

Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic getaway. The hotels along the promenade frequently offer rooms with river views, superb for enjoying the scenic beauty of the Rhine Valley. You're also perfectly situated for wine tastings at local vineyards or leisurely strolls along the riverbank.

For those looking for a slightly quieter experience with excellent views, the hills just above the town centre, particularly towards the Rochusberg vineyard, offer a lovely alternative.

The best time to go to Bingen is during the warmer months, specifically from May to September.

This period offers pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the region's outdoor attractions and enjoying the Rhine River. The average temperatures are comfortable, and there's less chance of rain, which is great for activities like boat trips, cycling along the river, and visiting the vineyards.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will particularly appreciate late spring and early autumn. May and June bring blooming landscapes and fewer crowds than the peak summer months, while September offers the grape harvest season, with local wine festivals and events that provide a great insight into the local culture and produce.

For travellers interested in active holidays, the summer months of July and August are excellent. The longer daylight hours allow for extended hikes through the Niederwald forest or along the Rheinsteig trail, and water sports on the Rhine are readily available.
