Bequia suffers from lack of water as there is no central water supply. Every property has cisterns that catch rain water. During the dry season we purchase water. To save water all toilets run on well water which has a lot of salt in it. hence the toilets get stained from the salt and are not in fact dirty but stained. We do our best to keep them from staining but this is a challenge with the brackish water used to flush them. Thanks for understanding

The location was the only good thing. The room was dusty, shower was dirty. We didnt need ac but the owner was not nice. The workers didnt seem to care much

In short, don't stay here if you want to get any sleep or value service in any way, I think this place is an actual scam. The hotel has/operates a bar on premise that stays open very late and blasts music, making it impossible for anyone at the "hotel" to sleep until they finally turn off the music (we're talking 1am ). If you see Google saying the bar "closes" at 10pm, that's not accurate, it stays open much later. I have no idea how this hotel has very many guests given this, basically everyone has to stay up until the bar shuts down/the DJ gets tired, it's literally at the hotel. I feel like the hotel was a complete scam, and have never seen a setup like this before, there's zero sound insulation. Service otherwise was virtually nonexistent, they didn't seem happy to have me check-in, and ghosted me at the front desk for ten minutes with no explanation, then suddenly came back to check me in.

Dear Luke,The annual Bequia Music Festival, which takes place at the end of January every year is currently in session so there is indeed music playing at the Frangipani until late for this week. We have another event on Thursday night and the festival is also in session at the Bequia Plantation Hotel and De Reef Restaurant. We apologize for the music that takes place during the festival and we are sorry you couldnt sleep We would be happy to offer you another night free at any time pending availability. We have been in business for over 50 years and continue to serve our guests.

We like the location close to the great beaches and nearby restaurants, had a cool bar and dining set up over looking the waters, didnt try their food or drinks no comment there. Stayed one night for over $600ec and was placed in one room without a AC or working fan some lights didnt work no 120v outlet made a complaint to get upgrade to a sloghtly better building across the way all was fine until we had to go to the bathroom that had a large investation of millipeded and 2 small gieko, couldnt do another night, they can keep the over priced change, the manager didnt have any courtesy to even address us at any point, theres way too much nicer place in bequia to stay. THIS is My honest experience

Dear JasonThank you for your feedback. We do have Air conditioned rooms available, but you did not reserve one. We did however upgrade you to one at no extra cost. As we live in the Caribbean, gekos as you call them are everywhere and we cannot control this. The voltage here is 220 volts. We do not have 110 volts because that is not the voltage in this country. We are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay with us, and hope that you can return for a free night.

I like the seaview from room window I liked the balcony and view I made a booking with Expedia for two nights at the rate of $50 USD per night. Expedia do not take the money but Frangipani was supposed to. My cards are all working for bookings everywhere else. Frangipani rejected payments several times. I wrote many emails to say I would be turning up and will pay upon arrival. When I turned up Sabrina the owner/manager, said she was no way going to let me have the website price that is shown on my reservation. She claimed the price was for one night, but clearly as you will see, it says two. Then she said it was a special offer for locals only. Local independence day. Another load of codswallop. I had seen these advertised prices for so many weeks, long before I even arrived in the country. She could see I had lots of bags and that I would have little choice. So,then she cancelled my booking and told me to make another booking. Then she contacted Expedia immediately so when I looked the prices had more than doubled. I asked why she changed the prices as I knew she did because she ran away from the counter for so long. She did not deny. She said she contacted Expedia and asked them to remove the offer ASAP. And they did. She cancelled my reserved booking, and did not honour this out of decency. She said 'there is no way I am giving you a room at $50 per night'. It did not matter that this was advertised at this price. Totally unfair and false advertising

When you arrived at the hotel to check in, I offered you a free upgrade to a nicer room and you declined to accept this. HI Brain,We are sorry to hear of the mosquito problem, but as you know this is a Caribbean issue..we dont have snow but we do have mosquitoes. We do have bug spray at the reception-all you had to do was ask. It is our policy to keep some OFF in the hotel rooms but often our guests remove them on departure. We do hope however that you enjoyed Bequia and your stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again.

Excellent location and great staff.
Perfect location right on the waterfront. Very big spotlessly clean room , great onsite bar and restaurant . All the staff were great , they helped us with a day trip to Mustique absolutely no complaints.

Bequia is very unique in itself. Some things just fit in a person's lifestyle and Bequia is and has been in the past the place for me. I am not a FIVE STAR traveler but not because I am cheep, most of my life has been 5 STAR. Once you have been to Bequia you just feel it. It is not the Frangipani it is the whole Island. I stayed in a private home on the north east windward side for a month first. 4.2 km walk in to Port Elizabeth, who does that, I did. I had no intention when I first went down walking. I did 13.2 kms one day. Good for me and my health I would say. Unfortunately Bequia will change, newer resorts and the Cruise Boats are somewhat taking over when they come in but good for the local people I would think, extra Income. Bequia has one serious problem and that is "LITTER" every where and designated garden areas are full of "LITTER" and weeds, commercial buildings near the waterfront need maintenance and paint, wooden pallets covering opening on the sidewalk. First impressions count and this is terrible. All it requires is locals volunteering to clean up their area in your personal space. You have to be there to understand. We have had this same concern and the area I live in which is a famous tourist area in Ontario. They need Education on this and heavy fines. We need the same here. I don't mean to be the mouthy tourist who sits on the outside wining. It is a very inexpensive fix and extremely important. You just have to walk around. Bequia is the best

You have pointed out a serious problem that we face, and the problem starts with Primary Education. The children here are not really taught not to litter so by the time they become adults they dont even notice the litter. For those of us that are sensitive to it like you it is depressing. It used to be worse, if that is any consolation and it is changing for the better. Volunteerism is not popular in Bequia and it is a few people who actually volunteer for most of the non profits on the island. Your comments are well noted and I hope we as locals can make a difference.

The Frangipani Hotel was established in 1967, from the former family home of the Mitchell family. The main building, now a hotel, with its iconic peaked roof has been presiding over beautiful Admiralty Bay since it was built in 1927.

Rustic historical hotel right on bay
I stayed in one of the basic rooms with a shared bath. After a week living on a boat, it was perfectly lovely and clean. The hotel has been operating since the 1800’s which is pretty cool.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed the Frangipani which is indeed an iconic institution in Bequia. In fact, the property has been in the Mitchell family since 1897 when it was purchased by my grandfather as a wedding gift for his wife. The hotel opened in 1967, in this original family home, now over 50 years ago.

Nice Location but hotel wants remodeling
Hotel from the fifties buildings shaking wen you walk doors not secure and easy to open walls like paper noisy wants modernisation other wise location great.

Affordable accommodation, poor restaurant service
I was travelling as a group of 3 students and we were staying in the hillside deluxe twin room. The room was clean and the fans kept it cool overnight. Mosquitos were a big problem, but the room is equipped with mosquito nets for each bed, insect repellant incense (the kind that burns for 6 hours), bug spray and a body insect repellant spray (although I'm not sure if they restock the last 2 as these could have been left from previous guests). We weren't bitten too badly but I think it definitely helped applying mosquito repellent before entering the room in the evening! Service at the restaurant was not good - very slow and served without a smile. We felt we were causing an inconvenience to the staff by dining there. Apart from this, good hotel for the price and would return, but not to the restaurant.

Charming little hotel.
Charming little place. They accommodated our request for a roll away bed for our son, provided beach towels as needed, and have a restaurant and bar on site (like everything on Bequia, the food and drinks are a little pricey).

We were really looking forward to our New Year's stay at Frangipani. Unfortunately our expectations were too high, as we had not realized the huge difference between the garden rooms and the "original" rooms which we had. Only 1 of the photos on the Expedia site is of the original rooms, and we did not realize it. On the positive side, our room was spacious and clean. However, the shared bathroom system was not always a pleasant experience. We ran a few times out of toilet paper, the toilets were often very dirty, someone threw their cigarette butt into the shower, one of the showers was always out of order, another guest liked to keep the toilet door open while doing his business etc... All maybe small things separately, but not the best experience as a whole! The location is great, and most of the staff friendly. The restaurant had excellent food, but service was really slow, especially at breakfast. An hour will not be enough. The wifi worked only in the common areas, not in our room. There can be quite a lot of noise in the evenings/mornings, depending on the courtesy of your fellow travelers stomping on the wood floors and banging doors in the corridor. The bar/restaurant was also right under our windows. All in all, we really wanted to like this place, but in the future would definitely avoid the original rooms, and either pay the extra for the garden rooms or go somewhere else.

The room maid was not told that we were in residence, hence no service initially The cable TV never worked- it is not working was the response to my complaint The bar/ restaurant failed to open on some evenings The air conditioning was to noisy to use When settling the bill, my bank advised that another hotel was credited with the payment The food menu was the worst on the island-including steak and rice for steak and fries An overgrown tree obscured most of the potentially great view

Bequia disappointment
We were very disappointed with Bequia and the hotel. Whilst it was out of season, they should have kept the bar open later than 7 each night in the hotel if you have guests. The room itself was fine but the shared bathrooms need modernising. Dirty tiles due to age, shower heads worse than cheap hostels. Staff were unfriendly. We had a powercut of most of our first day with no water or electric. A simple courteous 'sorry' would have been nice when asking when the power was back on. The staff really do need to be more friendly. The food wss also overpriced compared with food at other eateries very close. I have travelled to 90 countries and I wouldn't recommend here.

Nice hotel just outside town. No a/c, shared bathrooms. Budget option for 50eur. Nice neighbourghood at the bay. Clean and quiet. Hot water. Poor hotel bar.

Don't really like to write but I will say that they met everyone of our requests. A great example was Sion who works in the bar, we wanted whiskey and coconut water and they did not have any of the mixer so he sent to a local cocnut vendor and purchased over 2 liters of water as he sent twice! They were very customer/guest conscious. Anyone will love that attribute!

Muy malo, el edificio es viejo, los baños asquerosos y afuera de las habitaciones, las habitaciones solo tienen un abanico de pedestal, no tienen abanico de techo como promete , en la noche la puerta principal se queda abierta y no hay seguridad ni dejan ningún contacto para ayuda ni asistencia, la verdad no volvería a ese lugar.

Great Hotel that has it all . The room 17 and 18 are the best view and comfort . Hôtel restaurant and coffee shop are simply the best , menu is nice and prices are fare . Enjoy the ocean side walk to Queen Elizabeth beach and local food resto and beach bars . Bequia is a jewel and touch my heart 🌈🍍🌠

Ældre hotel med charme og meget venligt personale
Ældre hotel med megen charme. Ligger lige i vandkanten og ikke langt fra centrum. Vores søn og svigerdatter havde en lystbåd liggende lige ud for hotellet. Meget venligt personale, vi boede på hotellet i 16 dage og vil helt sikkert vælge samme hotel, når vi kommer tilbage til Beaquia

Strandhotell i klassisk stil
Hotellet ligger perfekt på promenadavstånd både från färjeterminalen och till stränder. Bra storlek på rummet som kändes luftigt och hade bra temperatur trots att AC saknades. Myggnät finns och behövs.Många bra barer och matställen inom gångavstånd.Det enda negativa intrycket var att Internet förbindelsen inte var stabil och fungerade dåligt. Betydligt bättre finns på närliggande cafeer och matställen.
