Nice location, being remodeled
It's hard to rate this; we checked in and were given room 204. It is straight out of 1981. If you book here, be sure to call and specify you want a remodeled room. I was devastated; felt like my wallet had been stolen. If you pay $250ish a night, you don't want something that makes Motel 6 look like the Ritz! After looking at the room, I called Expedia to see if I could change hotels. While on hold, my wife called the office. Corey was able to get us a new room, recently remodeled. The new room was great, just like the pics on Expedia. However, please note the remodel is ongoing! The first morning we tried to sleep in but awoke to the lovely sound of hammers. Thankfully we only slept there but it would have been nice to have slept a bit longer!! The second morning I woke up a bit earlier and was able to make it to breakfast. Sadly, it's not much.
All in all, Corey was the highlight of our stay. The location is central to most things in Avalon but I don't think we will be returning. There are plenty of vacation homes for rent; allows me to sleep in and make my own breakfast. We will certainly be returning to Catalina as it was beautiful. Not only are the sights stunning, the water pristine but the people were just so friendly! Sadly, I didn't get all of their names but Corey at the hotel, Tyler at Latitude 33 and Jorge at the Avalon Fire Dept were the ones I did get and will never forget.
Thank you Avalon, we love your town and will be back soon!
