I like how it's so close to everything. The staffs are friendly and the lobby look nice.

Staff was terrific

Posted 15-Sep-2017
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Up graded our room without requesting upgrade. Walked a short block to the beach. Quiet at night. Local people came around for breakfast. "Joe" had a lot of local history to tell us. He was born on Catalina. Well worth the $.

Very pleasant place - my wife an I visited it for our anniversary. They are very accommodating if you arrive before check-in and provide you a place to stash your stuff. Rooms were clean and welcoming -- ours even had a chandelier!

This hotel is the best on the Island.

Posted 14-Sep-2017
Pros: Character, a room with a balcony, quiet and well situated. Clean.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect. If you had to make any improvements, it might be to improve the breakfast items, add waffles etc.
Location: Golf cart rentals, boat rentals are within 2-3 minutes walk. Hiking and people watching on the boardwalk is also fun..
Our stay was outstanding. From the shuttle to the continental breakfast, everybody was friendly (especially Jimmy). We had such a fantastic time, we extended our stay.

This Hotel is a dump!

Posted 11-Sep-2017
Pros: The staff
Cons: The entire place..The floors were uneven. The carpets and rooms smell.
Location: Location ..good
There is nothing remodeled about this place. The carpeting is horrible. The rooms are horrible. I paid an additional upgrade fee at the hotel because my first room was such a dump, My boyfriend and I could not even get around each other. The fixtures and bathrooms were from the 80's. The first room did not even have air conditioning, and the second room's did not really work. I have stayed at motel 6's that were better then this place....The upgraded balcony room....just bad too. This place sucks!!!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to the Errol Flynn suite, which was awesome, for no charge.

Nice location, being remodeled

Posted 27-Aug-2017
It's hard to rate this; we checked in and were given room 204. It is straight out of 1981. If you book here, be sure to call and specify you want a remodeled room. I was devastated; felt like my wallet had been stolen. If you pay $250ish a night, you don't want something that makes Motel 6 look like the Ritz! After looking at the room, I called Expedia to see if I could change hotels. While on hold, my wife called the office. Corey was able to get us a new room, recently remodeled. The new room was great, just like the pics on Expedia. However, please note the remodel is ongoing! The first morning we tried to sleep in but awoke to the lovely sound of hammers. Thankfully we only slept there but it would have been nice to have slept a bit longer!! The second morning I woke up a bit earlier and was able to make it to breakfast. Sadly, it's not much. All in all, Corey was the highlight of our stay. The location is central to most things in Avalon but I don't think we will be returning. There are plenty of vacation homes for rent; allows me to sleep in and make my own breakfast. We will certainly be returning to Catalina as it was beautiful. Not only are the sights stunning, the water pristine but the people were just so friendly! Sadly, I didn't get all of their names but Corey at the hotel, Tyler at Latitude 33 and Jorge at the Avalon Fire Dept were the ones I did get and will never forget. Thank you Avalon, we love your town and will be back soon!

Cons: breakfast
Nice room with friendly staff situated in the center of town. The only disappointment was "breakfast", as it was rubbery and barely edible, but that wouldn't keep me from staying there again.

Near the beach

My room didn't have refrigerator/microwave, but it was very clean, and so close to almost everything.
