No street noise drifting up from the avenue below. No early morning light forcing its way through the curtains at 5am in summer. No glare from passing headlights or the flicker of a neighbouring building`s signage. Just deep, even darkness and a hush that city apartments simply cannot replicate, however good their double glazing. For shift workers needing to sleep through the middle of the day, light sleepers who wake at the smallest disturbance, jet-lagged travellers trying to reset their body clock, or anyone who has ever lain awake in a hotel room wishing the world outside would just be quiet for once — this suite was built for exactly that need.

The Sanctuary Suite occupies a first-floor position within the building`s original heritage footprint — its enclosed, windowless design a product of the building`s age and structure rather than any compromise in the renovation. The entire suite is exclusively yours — both bedrooms, both bathrooms, the kitchen, and the living and dining area. The fully accessible bathroom is available to all guests, not exclusively those with mobility requirements. Early check-in and late checkout can often be accommodated subject to availability — a genuine advantage for shift workers or guests on irregular schedules, given there is no daylight to disrupt sleep regardless of the hour. A private chauffeur transfer from Auckland Airport can be arranged with at least 48 hours notice.

Step outside and within two minutes you are in Britomart — Auckland`s most revered and revitalised urban precinct. Amano for seasonal Italian-inspired fine dining, Mr Morris for acclaimed New Zealand contemporary cuisine, Ortolana in the sun-filled Pavilions conservatory, Kingi at The Hotel Britomart for the city`s finest seafood, and a rotating cast of outstanding restaurants and bars throughout the cobblestoned laneways. Flagship boutiques from Maggie Marilyn, Karen Walker, Zambesi, Kate Sylvester, and Deadly Ponies line the laneways alongside carefully curated independent stores.

The Auckland Ferry Terminal is nearby for Waiheke Island, Devonport, and Hauraki Gulf services. Britomart Transport Centre — Auckland`s main transport hub — is two minutes on foot and connects the full train network across the city. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is nearby for Waiheke Island and harbour services. Uber and private car services are available throughout the CBD at all hours. There is no dedicated car park with the suite, but secure off-site parking can be arranged on request. Auckland Airport is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car, and a private chauffeur transfer can be arranged at additional cost.

This suite is honestly and deliberately marketed as a windowless, enclosed space — guests who need natural light in their bedroom to feel comfortable should choose one of our other Anzac Avenue suites instead, and we are glad to help you find the right fit. For everyone else — shift workers, light sleepers, jet-lagged travellers, and anyone who has ever paid extra for blackout blinds in a hotel and still found the light got in — this suite delivers something those rooms never quite manage: genuine, total darkness and silence, every single night, regardless of the season or the time of day.

The Rega P1 turntable is stocked with curated vinyl — guests are warmly invited to bring their own. The Illy machine is supplied with curated blends. A Voila iron and JVD Velyss garment steamer are provided. This is a non-smoking, no-vaping property throughout. No parties or events. Checkout is by 11:00 AM — though given the suite`s nature, we are often able to be flexible here.
