For most visitors to Atali, the best area to stay is along the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway, particularly near the village of Byasi.

This area is primarily known for its stunning natural setting on the banks of the River Ganga, surrounded by the Shivalik hills. It's less of a traditional "town" and more of a collection of resorts and adventure camps spread out along the highway, offering direct access to the river. The landscape is dotted with lush greenery and offers beautiful views of the river.

Couples looking for an active and scenic retreat will find this area ideal. Many accommodations here offer direct river access for activities like rafting and kayaking, often with dedicated instructors. The tranquil environment is superb for unwinding, and some resorts provide amenities like outdoor pools and yoga facilities.

For families, staying in this area provides a great balance of adventure and relaxation. Resorts often have spacious grounds, and the focus on outdoor activities means there's plenty to keep children engaged, from river sports to nature walks.

The best time to visit Atali is during the cooler, drier months, typically from October to April.

This period offers pleasant weather conditions, with comfortable temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like rafting and trekking. The skies are generally clear, providing excellent visibility for enjoying the scenic beauty of the Ganges River and surrounding Himalayas.

For those keen on white-water rafting, the months of October to early December and then March to April are particularly good. The river levels are usually optimal for an exciting experience, and the weather is warm enough during the day for water sports.

Travellers looking for a more relaxed and reflective experience might prefer November or February.
