Not sure what all the bad press was about for this hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed in room 14 for 4 nights and it was lovely! After reading some reviews before arriving, we were hesitant, but honestly the hotel was exactly what we needed. It was clean, the staff were polite and the room was perfect just to sleep in while we explore the area. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful staff, excellent location, right in front of the canal, and a quaint place that fit with the experience of Amsterdam. As expected, stairs were steep and my son had a room on last floor which was very cold, but they quickly made the change to another room.

The building is very tired and the room was shabby but the lady who checked us in was lovely and helped us with a city map. It's a gorgeous area. The bed was very comfy and the shower was good so although it doesn't look like much we'd come back.
