This truly amazing villa offers everything one could ever wish for a special holiday on the Mexican Caribbean. The owners of Villa Palmilla have thought of every detail in creating a well thought out, custom built luxury vacation home! Walking through the entrance you will find yourself standing in a lush, shaded garden containing lush, tropical foliage. The walkway to the front door leads past a small rock pool, surrounded by potted plants and palms, where two fountains soothingly spill trickles of water into the aqua pool below. Leaving the garden behind while opening the giant mahogany front door, you will immediately find yourself standing in a vast living area characterized by subtle, yet unquestionably tasteful elegance. To the right of the entrance is the fully stocked kitchen with walk-in pantry. The kitchen is accessorized with black granite countertops, a separate stand alone refrigerator/freezer unit, and a deluxe double oven. Tucked inside the central kitchen bar with three beautiful wicker stools is a custom made, built in refrigerated wine chiller. Store bottles of wine for that special occasion in the brick walk-in wine cellar! And enjoy scrumptious meals on a beautiful 8 person dining table made of Chechen, a lovely wood indigenous to the Yucatan Peninsula. To the left of the entrance is the living area filled with comfortable furniture, a color satellite TV. This expansive room, which joins with the kitchen and dining area, features two floor to ceiling glass walls overlooking the spacious pool with a lap swimming section and the inviting aquamarine waters of the Caribbean ocean. Stepping out into the back yard is yet another incredible experience. For those who need to take a nap in the shade, there is plenty of cushioned furniture on the balcony both upstairs and downstairs under the ceiling fans. Surround sound speakers in the downstairs balcony add the perfect relaxing touch to enjoying your poolside piña colada! On a clear night under a thousand stars prepare a family BBQ on the stone grill while sitting around the recessed stone fire pit enjoying cool beverages. The master suite has a king bed and gorgeous balcony with a spectacular view of the ocean. A high powered, free standing telescope is available for the avid stargazer. The artwork is absolutely stunning! The master suite has an amazing life-like zebra print. Enough said…you will simply have to wait and see the other prints upon your arrival. The master bath has an incredible sunken spa tub with a view of the turquoise ocean. The first guest suite also has a king bed and shares the same lovely balcony and amazing ocean view as the master suite. The second guest suite has two twin beds that can be made into a king size bed, complete with satellite TV. This suite has its own separate balcony with a great view of the ocean. All of the bathrooms have marble countertops and all of the shower heads both inside and out are from Italy. A safe for storing valuables is located in each bedroom. There is a fourth room downstairs that is a combination office/TV room with two computer desks and satellite TV. A huge, luxury, camel suede sofa makes a double bed. Opening the sliding glass doors leads you directly to the lap section of the swimming pool, ideal for the swimming enthusiast. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 6 had a wonderful week at Villa Palmilla in early August. The villa was maintained to a high standard with great amenities (AC, Wifi, Kitchen) and was taken care of every single day by Jorge and Margarita. We enjoyed the outdoor area, breakfasts and dinners on the patio and days spent by the pool and on the private beach equipped with loungers and a hammock. Walks to Akamai along the beach (10 mins) to enjoy snorkelling with turtles. We even saw two turtles laying eggs a short distance from our villa in the evening. Jorge cooked delicious meals and made amazing margaritas and was always on hand to support. We visited the Mayan ruins at Tulum, visited local Ceynotes, snorkelled at a nearby lagoon and used the kayaks at the villa. Bedrooms and bathrooms were of a high standards as well as the communal areas and we were treated to beautiful sunrises, sunsets and incredible views of the moon every day, visible from the bedrooms’ balconies and downstairs outdoor areas. The Akamai Villas team were attentive with the booking and Roger, the Villa manager visited us during our stay. Hoping to return to this quiet slice of paradise in the near future! ##### jon s. The air conditioning units worked effortlessly and kept the entire home COLD. The pool, lounging areas, provided kayaks, life jackets, and snorkel gear allowed us to make memories on a whim without over planning. The neighborhood is EXTREMELY SAFE!The services provided by Jorge and Margarita were TOP NOTCH. We made a new friend with Jorge and we were so sad to leave his care and attention. In our 10 day visit, he prepared 6 meals for us. His skills in the kitchen are superb and exceeded the quality and taste of food we had dining elsewhere. We shared many laughs together during our stay. Jorge set a new level of expectations for our vacations going forward.In general, many reports will say to avoid Mexico in July due to Sargassum and Hurricane seasons. As Floridians, we disagree with this and at no time during the entirety of our trip were our plans dampered by poor weather or seaweed. That's not to say there isn't any seaweed, but the position of this home eliminated it from view and there was no smell due to the rising tides filtering daily. I can't say the same for other areas of Mexico - but the topography and position of Villa Palmilla surrounded by a barrier reef type formation in the distance make the location of this home ideal! When we arrive, however, it was really great that all of our expectations were significantly surpassed. The house is beautiful, the people from the property management company and the two people who took care of our house each day were excellent. We also had them cook some meals for us and it was better than any five star restaurant. Other than a few chilly days, we could not have picked a better place, a better staff or had a better time. Reviewer Comments: This is my sixth stay at Villa Palmilla. To say that it is beautiful is an understatement. The mood is set the minute you walk through the gate into the courtyard. Opening the uniquely hinged front door, you find the sight of the ocean straight ahead. Everything in the house is carefully chosen. The house is immaculate and has everything you could need or want. Margarit keeps it spotless and Pedro maintains the outside perfectly. If you choose this villa, you will not be disappointed. We enjoyed many restaurants along the beach at Tulum, including La Zebra, Bistro at Ziggy Beach, and especially Arca, next to Hartwood and I found to be better, plus they take reservations for small parties. ##### diana m. Reviewer Comments: This was our fifth stay at Villa Palmilla. To say we love it is an understatement. From the minute you walk through the gate into the courtyard, you realize you are inn paradise. When you open the amazing front door, you immediately see the ocean. The home is beautiful, the staff is great, and the pool is inviting. This is the perfect place for your vacation. Be sure to check out La Zebra on the Tulum beach (right at the fork) and ask for Fernando for a great meal. Also enoyed the Bistro at Ziggy Beach (Tulum, right at fork) and Lo Ha in Alumal. Great sticky buns at Turtle Bay Bakery in Akumal. Good snorkeling in Akumal bay, at Casa Cenote, and Yal Kul lagoon. ##### diana m. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful, elegant, tasteful villa for a few couples or a small family group.Well maintained, well designed, well appointed, classy place.Great views, great outdoor spaces and ocean views and access. Staff is fabulous, efficient, courteous and very helpful. Location has great access to Tulum area, Akumal area and Playa del Carmen areas all within 20-30km of villa with lots of activities, restaurants, secluded beaches, etc. The ONLY negative about this villa is that the beach is somewhat rocky and water can be a bit rough. For someone who wants wide beach of powder sand and calm water, this is not that. However, if you like to dive or snorkel right outside your villa, this is perfect. You can walk up the beach to the main Akumal beach in a few minutes. We did have an issue with TV access in the Master Bedroom, but I imagine that is repaired now. We didn't want to watch much TV anyway, and there were other working TVs in the villa. Wifi actually worked pretty well and cell service was adequate. ##### Edward K. The ocean view and pool makes up for the fact that the beach is rocky and the ocean hard to swim in. We drove into Akumal a few times for lunch but other than that we just enjoyed the beautiful Villa and lovely dinners made by Paedro. We loved it and will mkst certainly like to go back! I a specially liked the management team that worked at the house. Roger the property manager was very friendly and accommodating, Roger the grounds keeper and amazing cook! (our best meals were at the house the whole week) and Margarite was very sweet and kept the house beautifully spotless! The owners need to know what an amazing house they created esthetically and every detail is impeccable!
