"Well situated in a rustic setting with a beautiful Loch walk 5 mins away. Room was clean and bright. By far the best asset were the staff always cheerful and friendly and genuinely concerned that the stay was a pleasant experience. I loved the place and hope to be back. "

"Welcoming staff and lovely building. Dinner was great but the breakfast was poor and I couldn't eat it. Never seen poached so hard, mattress on the bed was pretty 'used' with a big dip in it so not the most comfortable for the money. They also charged my card for 50% of my booking 2 days before our stay without permission and the balance on the arrival day rather than 'pay at property' which was how the booking was made. I then had to chase up the invoices. "

"The restaurant is very high quality food for dinner. Breakfast was a bit odd in that we were just given the choice of a hot dish, whereas I prefer some fruit , nice breads and pastries etc. Room was fine for 1 night but rather small with extra to no hanging space"

Lovely flowers fruit and homemade shortbread made it a special treat. "The hotel is a stately home. More like a Manor that is just outside Penpont; Thornhill is just a 5 min drive. It’s located in a gorgeous area surrounded by lovely old oak trees and the Scaur River. Excellent for a good walk. "
