"In France most restaurants close at 21:00. Odd but true. Because of cancellations at the Channel Tunnel we were delayed leaving the UK by 2 hours and arrived in Tennie at 21:30. Frederick the owner had prepared us a very pleasant meal with an extremely welcome bottle of Pomerol. We have a small dog who was also made very welcome. "A stale kitchen smell hung around the reception and permeated the building. No lights were on and it was like entering a dark cave. I normally like quaint old hotels but this was just down at heel and dispiriting. The photographer must be very clever as the reality was dismal. The sauna was an extra 55 Euros so we didnt use it and didn't eat there as the stale smell was so unappetising. We would not have stayed except that we had booked and paid in advance."
