“Would definitely stay here again”

Terrific location for the METRO, Foggy Bottom Station. The hotel was clean and very pleasant staff. Beautiful lobby. Very clean and all were large rooms!

Area recommendations

Georgetown is wonderful. Full of activity and excellent restaurants!

Getting around

Staying at the Melrose allows you to get around on the Metro. It takes you all over the city so you can park your car for the trip!

“Clean, comfortable, great location”

I read some not so encouraging reviews about Melrose, but they all turned out to be either outdated or just not true. We had great time at the hotel both because it is located in the middle of everything and because our room was clean, quiet and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall I felt as if I was in a 4-start hotel for the 3-star price.

“Great choice”

Great value for your money. Very convenient location within walking distance to the White House. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Also within walking distance of Georgetown shopping. Comfortable rooms and good service. Highly recommended.

“Great location with comfortable rooms!”

The Melrose is located conveniently for the sites of DC and also the nightlife restaurants etc of Georgetown. The hotel is reasoanably modest but the rooms are comfortable and clean. We were delighted with the hotel, their service levels were high, it made our trip!

Washington DC is a great place to visit, very walkable lots of "real" attractions, fantastic architecture. Georgetown is great for evening restaurants etc...

“Wonderful hotel”

We travel often to DC and find the Melrose to have a great staff and you can't beat the location. A bit shabby sheek but always very clean. They are very kind

“This is the worest hotel I ever styed in throughout my travels”

I've been decived by the image of the hotel displayed on the web which led me to make my reservation. The high price I paid dosen't correspond with the service I recived. For example, I waited for 20 minutes for the porter to carry my lauggegs into the hotel. I refered to the frount desck for help. The lady there told me to go and grap a trolly near the main enterance. The porter who actualy was talking to someone outside showed up and carried my stuff. Another irony, the room doesnt have a min bar or a ref. which made the night I spent misconfort. Therefore, I'll never ever stay in this hotel nor recommend it to a freind

“Old World Style”

Great hotel, responsive to my concerns, well located but the only negative was the charge for internet services. When in D.C., will stay again.

I found Foggy Bottom to be a lively, youthful, vibrant place, with good shopping for foods, though the clothiers were expensive. The security was good probably because of the embassies proximal to the hotel. The university lends itself to great night life and people watching. The location of the Metro subway is excellent so sightseeing was easily accommodated. The hotel itself, though not a five star, was an easy, pleasurable place to stay. Being old, I like old, thus I enjoyed this hotel and the location.
