Wonderfully located...everything right out the door. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were large for European rooms. Clean. Good breakfasts. Only caveat is make sure you get a room facing the back of the hotel because it will cut back on the weekend partying noise in the area.
Fabulous hotel, breakfast plentiful (at extra cost) a good start to busy days. Most museums, restuarants and shops within easy walking distance. Tours were bookable from reception, pick ups from the hotel in minibuses as road not suitable for big coaches. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were always friendly and helpful.

Reading previous reviews I was a little concerned about noise as I'm a light sleeper but had no problems at all. There was some traffic noise but hordes of drunken party goers weren't an issue at all!
The room was very clean, the bed was comfy and the staff were excellent. The breakfast buffet, while not cheap, is excellent and if you fill up there a snack for lunch should do. Very good location for easy access to lots of sites and tours. I would definitely stay again.

"The is one of the greatest locations in Reykjavik."
this guest house is very convenient to many restaurants and bars and interesting tourist and historical sites and shopping. The guest house has a small kitchen with refrigerators and you can have some of your meals in house. Wifii is great to have. I would highly recommend 1912 Guesthous

We took a fairly last minute trip to Reykjavik for a landmark birthday occasion, needed somewhere to lay our heads and relax.
Not many budget friendly places were left; this looked ok.... It was FABULOUS.
Tucked out the way, but right next to the old harbour. 2 minutes walk to bars and eateries, 5 minutes walk to central shops and bus station. Taxis within easy reach but there is plenty to reach easily on foot.
Tourist information centres are all over - you need only book day trips the day before (or on the day, if going to Northern lights).
Must sees - northern lights (take a good camera); golden circle, blue lagoon (you can go straight from airport on a handy stop off transfer); if you have more than 3 or 4 days try and fit in a trip to the east to see glaciers and puffins!
Planet apartments is a fab little self catering studio with ample space to spread out and relax, all new fittings and very 'handy'.
Very pleased with staff and accommodations. Worked very well for what we needed, especially having the kitchen, thought the price was reasonable especially for the location. The staff was very helpful in guiding us for items such as a grocery store, where hot spots were, etc.
