"They did right by us during the anime convention"
Went there for a anime convention and the employees at Marriot were great hosts.
Here’s a tip during an anime convention at this particular Marriot, if at all possible – ask for a room that doesn’t face the interior (I believe it’s the odd numbered rooms that face outside facing the street), because as you might imagine, con-goers were up for until around 2 AM, so it was louder than what I was used to. Thankfully I came prepared though – I had noise cancelling headphones and a White Noise application that I used at night :-)
The Marriot Wi-Fi worked well enough, although I wasn’t on it that much. Marriot provided plenty of free water stations with lots of cold water. The air conditioning actually broke Saturday evening, but Marriot provided several fans and seemed to increase the water supply in order to make up for it, so that’s much appreciated. And they had it up and running on Sunday and it was nice and cool, so they repaired it quickly.
overall great experience. what a treat to have the post-it on the bed post saying the sheets and duvet cover is cleaned for the arrival. we all know it's a big issue nowadays about if the sheets and blanket are clean. the room felt very clean
We went down for USC game. Too far to walk but taxi's were available. Hotel rooms were large and very clean. We went to Ruth Chris on Sunday am for the buffet. We will never do that again! The bill came to $65 for 4 people plus tip. The wait was to be 10 minutes, it became 20. The restaurant was almost empty when we were seated about 9:30, there were no plates, grits were congealed, bacon missing, sausage cold. No omelet station, very limited choices. Hotel stated not a part of their hotel and had no authority.
Easy check-in and out, room was not large but is so different from the usual hotel room design that I chose to stay here for the second time. Great shower! Microwave and fridge, just about everything you could want.
This was my first time here and will definitely be staying again! Am in Columbia quite often as my son is a student at USC, and it was such a pleasure to be so close by. The entire staff is EXCELLENT! I asked which floor was preferred and when I said "just a good one" was told he'd put me away from the traffic (hadn't even considered that myself) and I will say it was very quiet all night long. Extremely clean, nice little happy hour, gorgeous breakfast in the morning, big comfortable beds, plenty of parking, oh and warm cookies at night..can't wait to go back. Well worth the price: )))
