Perfect hotel - fantastic staff

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Fantastic setting, lovely hotel, staff that truly care.
Cons: Nothing of any consequence.
Location: Good idea, if staying longer than a week to get a car and explore the national park. It's a good day out.
Our 3rd visit. This place is stunning. Customer service is second to none. If there is a problem, they sort it. Our child lost his bedtime bear and within 24hrs, they located it - 40mins away on the other side of tenerife in the laundry...... Their staff drove to other side of the island, searched the laundry and returned it to our room, complete with a laminated booklet enclosing the bears adventures ! Very, very difficult to fault. Be aware of dress codes for some of the restaraunts.

Fabulous hotel great for romantic get away

Posted 18-Jun-2014
From the minute we arrived the reception staff were outstanding . We were upgraded as it was our anniversary and birthday , bottle of bubbles and choc n strawberries . Fantastic villa over looking the sea. Staff were excellent in all the restaurants we tried. Do go to San Juan nearby , nice harbour ( jamon jamon restaurant on Sunday has great food and flamenco dancers , very good ) We felt very spoilt , do look at other reviews to make a judgement . We stayed at del duque last year and had a great time there , if you want more going on . We loved the pools and the beach and came home from abama very happy . Thankyou to all the staff .

Fabulous Hotel

Posted 02-Jun-2014
Pros: It was five star all the way. The Staff were extraordinary. The food was brilliant.
Cons: Some entertainment in the evening.
Location: The Hotel stands elevated and quite isolated. There are complementary trips to other nearby resorts and shopping. You can rent a car or book excursions.
We had a wonderful experience at this Hotel. There was nothing that was too much to ask. The Staff were marvelous and at your beck and call. The food was brilliant and really tasty. The Hotel is elevated and is a ten minute walk downhill to a small private sandy beach, however there is a train that runs down regularly or the staff are only too willing to drive you down in a buggy. There are tropical and exotic palms, plants and flowers all over the huge grounds. There were many swimming pools at 26 C, including one for adults only. There were complimentary trips to Las Americas and Plaza Del duque. The only negative for me was that there was no Entertainment in the evening but a walk in the beautiful garden took care of that.

A little bit of luxury

Posted 19-May-2014
Pros: Peaceful and relaxing in pretty surroundings and the restaurants
Cons: Adults only poolside services deteriorated. No extras anymore and waiters not observant when you want something. Everything is expensive once there
Location: Pretty and totally isolated from the rst of the world. Never in 4 years looked further than the hotel
Fourth time back to The Abama. If you need a peaceful few days away with guarenteed good weather and fantastic cuisine The Abama should be considered. Wonderful golf course with nobody on it for him and a really good spa for her. Two exceptional restaurants, MB 2 Michelin Stars and Kubuki 1 M S. Fantastic. Otherwise peace and quiet, no need to go anywhere else. A real rest

Beautiful resort with a gorgeous view

Posted 27-Apr-2014
Pros: The views and the wonderful staff.
Cons: It would be nice if there was an outside hot tub.
We enjoyed all that the resort had to offer, including golf, the pools, the beach, the many restaurants. And we also ventured to see some of the local sites such as Los Gigantes and El Teide, plus the Siam water park. The weather was perfect and we totally enjoyed our stay on Tenerife and a the Abama resort.

Most staff good, some staff great.

Posted 19-Apr-2014
Pros: Great value, somewhat undiscovered gem. Staff always make the difference in a 5 star stay.
Cons: Beach was filthy. Needs to be groomed. Cigarette butts littered the beach, a real shame that this simple thing lets the resort down.
Location: No need to leave the resort. San Juan ok. Jamon Jamon good resturant in San Juan. Going off resort can be dodgy.
Martin Black on front desk was outstanding! Great service, great attitude, would go back to Abama based just on his level of service and professionalism. He is truly a credit to the Ritiz Carlton Group and to the Abama hotel. Please make sure that these comments make it to his line manager. I run a large global service business and would happily hire Martin at any moment.

Wonderful hotel and lovely staff

Posted 14-Apr-2014
We've just returned from a 6 day stay at the wonderful Abama hotel. The hotel is really lovely, the rooms are great-really good size so having an extra bed for a child is no problem.Only very slight downside is the dining arrangements for the evening, all the restaurants are wonderful but it is a real struggle to get a reservation before 9 unless you have booked days ahead-once we'd picked up on this and got it sorted it was fine but would be helpful if reception really stressed this when you check in.

Sheer quality..throughout!

Posted 21-Feb-2014
Cons: A better map/layout as it can be quite daunting finding where everything is first day
Location: On a hillside, sweeping down to the cliffs..it's own private beach..but minutes from the very quaint San Jose fishing town..
To stay in Abama..is to step into a bygone era..but with a modern twist..of luxury hotels that simply don't exist anymore...every single member of staff...goes far beyond their own role to ask, check, re-confirm that you ARE singularly the MOST important guest...even if you know your not! The rooms, the pools, the restaurants..all impressive..yes..you do pay..but for quality..why not?!? We'll be back..this year if possible..
