Lovely hotel in the countryside
We stayed the night as we were there for brilliant comedy night. The Hotel is amazing and has been renovated very well so that it retained its historic looks whilst enjoying double glazing etc in the rooms. The room was very clean and well thought out, although there was a creaky floorboard but what can you expect after many years. Breakfast was ok but to be honest I’ve had better. The hotel grounds were amazing and we’ll definitely stay again. The only downside was the child leaving with her parents at 4am, presumably for an early flight out of Gatwick, who woke me up shouting down the corridor. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.

The staff were the biggest plus here
A lovely old country house which has been given a curious, modern makeover internally. I felt the decor didn’t enhance the beauty of the original building but such things are often a matter of personal taste. Lovely receptionist who immediately put us at our ease. She said she started recently. Very helpful and courteous. The room was adequate, though a little on the small side. Tiny wardrobe for 2 people and it felt flimsy. Bed comfortable but pillows way too soft. Due to its semi-rural setting the location is very quiet which is a plus. Bathroom small and water pressure in the shower a bit lacking. We had dinner which was in a large room just off reception. Minimally decorated with pale blue walls givingit a cold feel. Noticeable cobwebs on the ceiling close to where we sat. The table felt sticky to the touch and the bench cushion on the nearby window seat had blotchy stains on it. The food however was very good as was the wine. Prices were also very reasonable. Service was included in the bill and the staff deserved it because they were really good.

We've recently completed a full renovation of all our bedrooms with a design we believed to be unique and appealing. We understand that everyone's taste can vary, and we will certainly take your opinion into account. However, we would also like to point out that our design has been highly praised by many of our guests, as you might see from our other reviews. As for the insulation, we apologise if you found it unsatisfactory. We will take note of your comment and will review this with our team to ensure we meet our guests' comfort standards in future.Regarding the fitness centre and spa, we would like to clarify that we have never advertised these amenities as part of our offerings. Our focus is on providing our guests with excellent accommodation, quality food, and superior service so we're disappointed to see that your rating was primarily based on the absence of these facilities without mention of our food, drinks, or service. Room was small but newly refurbished and very clean , bed was comfortable, I found the bar area a let down no atmosphere and bar staff unable to make cocktails 🍸 but on the whole we had an enjoyable stay ..

Great hotel close to Gatwick Airport
A lovely hotel conveniently close to Gatwick. Our room was very clean and spacious. Only stayed 1 night prior to flight but would have enjoyed staying longer. Excellent breakfast.

A tranquil place to stay just a short drive/taxi ride from Gatwick airport. Nice refurbished rooms , quality of food excellent at a reasonable price. My second visit and highly recommended.

The property is just beautiful! We felt like royalty. We especially enjoyed the well-maintained park outside, and the beauty of the hotel. The room was extremely quiet and the bed very comfortable. The restaurant was okay and the service was a bit slow. We will definitely come back if we have to stay again in the Gatwick area!

The property is beautiful. I was just there for one night and I chose it because it’s close to Gatwick Airport. I didn’t have time to use the amenities or explore the lovely gardens. It is somewhat out of the way in the countryside so walkability index is low. You do need a car. My room was comfortable and very clean.

Disappointed as the breakfast wasn't served until 07:30, which is no good to me as I need to leave for the office at 07:30 Did not clean every day, had to ask for replacement tea and coffee

Lovely hotel close to Gatwick
Lovely hotel, in a great location close to Gatwick. Would have rated 5 star instead of 4 star but restaurant was fully booked a couple of weeks before we arrived. However we had a brilliant dinner at The Fox Revived which is only about a mile away. A bit surprised when we checked out at 6:45am there was no one at reception and we just had to leave key on reception counter.

The room is very nice and clean, large and spacious with large King bed. It is very quiet. The staff are very friendly. The environment is very nice. The hotel is a bit far away from the Gatwick airport. It would be nice that the hotel provides own shuttle service, allowing multiple clients take on the same shuttle, more environmentally friendly.

Wonderful old-world historical manor. Second floor rooms have small hobbit sized windows so not a lot of light but the under the roof nook is infinitely charming. Only small details keep it from being a 5-star property, like fancier landscaping, elevator (currently being installed), room detailing, less emphasis on catering to conferences and weddings, etc. The food quality if excellent. The patio is ideal for sipping drinks in the evening. So 4/5 stars from us and warmly recommended to spend a quiet time surrounded by nature, perfect for a writing getaway.

What a gem!!!!!!
Needed an overnight near the airport and wanted a country setting. This place did not disappoint. Warm cozy place with courteous knowledgeable staff. There is nothing in walking distance but taxis are quick. They do have an on property restaurant and pub and we found the food to be delicious and reasonably priced. Comfortable beds and rooms. Only downside was the lift was out, but it wouldn’t stop my decision in the future.
