“Hotel Reception Procedure”

On arrival I was greeted by a studiedly polite young man who appeared to be without empathy. Beyond having to supplying a card and a passport, I feel no further demands should be made on checking in. I was asked to fill out a questioner in order to profile me for advertising purposes. I was also made to create a sample transaction to verify my credit card. Fortunately, all the other staff members proved to extremely helpful and charming. My small room was comfortable with good lighting and tastefully decorated. On the first night the shower in the bathroom flooded the toilet and washbasin area due to the shower door not having a rubber screen. This problem was only partly remedied the following day. I was subsequently upgraded after making my dissatisfaction known to Sarah who proved to be very sympathetic. On one afternoon the reception had inadvertently switched off their telephones making it impossible for contacts to reach me. Although, the wifi was free it was exorbitantly expensive to use a hotel terminal. In spite of my unfortunate experience of this hotel I would still recommend it as a very good hotel that needs to revise its check in procedure. Most guests arrive feeling somewhat tired from travelling and checking in should be a simple as possible and not at all time consuming. Demanding that a guest should make a sample credit card transaction is one step too far.

“very impressed”

The Radisson Blu Strand Hotel, Stockholm must rate among the best hotels I have visited. The bedroom was carefully attended, with towels, refreshments and toiletries changed daily, lifts had restricted access to guests (although why this would be required in Sweden escapes me). The dining room was efficient and was able to cater easily for a mix of private guests and conference personnel. However what made this hotel really stand out was the efficiency and friendliness of the staff, at all levels. I feel that the Radisson has gathered together a really good team who are able to give personal attention in a very large concern.

“Tiny room, small toilet, easy to break toilet seat, rough toilet paper, dirt under carpet.”

Reception was willing to help but gave incorrect opening hour for attraction; quality of room not as expected; more like a three stars hotel. Not amused.

“Enchanting Room”

We stayed 3 nights and loved it! I booked a room with a view and it was absolutely enchanting to look out over the water through our open window. This is a lovely hotel with old world charm but at a reasonable price. Walking distance to the old city and easy walk to many restaurants. We've stayed in many European hotels over the years and this rated among the best!

“Great place to stay in Stockholm”

We had a wonderful stay at the Radisson Blue Strand. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated with a lovely waterfront view. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was bountiful and tasty and the service at both breakfast and dinner was great. The location of the hotel is perfect--centrally located within easy walking distance to many sites. We would return here and highly recommend this hotel to others.

“Great location with old fashioned charm”

Staff are most helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. It is a superb location for exploring Stockholm on foot. Buffet breakfasts are excellent and set you up for a day's sightseeing. The hotel is within easy walking distance of many restaurants. The only negative is that the hotel is in need of an upgrade - e.g.,a splash of paint here, refinishing the wooden floors there, upgrading the elevators. Having said that, the hotel had an old fashioned charm that modern, plastic hotels lack.

“Beautiful property”

The Rad Blu Strand is a beautiful property ideally situated near most sites. The front desk staff were very welcoming but apologized that we had to wait while the room was made available. As we waited for less than five minutes we were offered drinks. When we entered the room we realized that we had been given an upgrade to a suite with large windows that fully opened to reveal a beautiful harborfront view. Our only complaint is minor with the small glass partition in the shower that is intended to function as a splash guard yet does little to prevent water from soaking the floor even when the handheld showerhead is used - a potentially dangerous situation when exiting the shower. Every staff member we encountered during our stay greeted us with a smile and answered our questions and requests in a professional and friendly manner. This will be our hotel of choice when in Stockholm.

“Great location but somewhat noisy”

This hotel is in walking distance of all the great sights. We were however a bit surprised that the reception is located in the same room as the dinning room and the bar ! Also, we could hear music in our room at night coming from nearby boats and bars, even if we were there during weak days.

“Ideal waterfront setting”

All hotel employees were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. It is a short walk from the Radisson Blu Strand to Kungstradgarden Metro. From there all is accessible though perhaps signage throughout Stockholm might be improved somewhat. Take a few hours to explore the art of the T-Banna stations. Don't miss the Vasa Museum or the changing of the guard up at Kungliga Slott. At Skansen we were fortunate to see recently born wild boar and moose. Seats at the Opera are inexpensive. If you are a movie buff of a certain age pay homage to Greta Garbo at her grave in the Woodland Cemetery. It's a lovely city. Quite compact and explorable on foot.
