“Quiet and relaxing”

The hotel looks like a house in a very quiet neighborhood with million dollar mansions. The beach is only one block away. The room was clean with few pieces of furniture. The only down fault was that the building was too old.I would go back because I liked the surroundings and the peacefulness.

Dining
We dined at Cafe Mediterraneo in Sarasota. The brick oven pizza and the lamb we had was to die for.We raccomend it to anybody.

“Disappointing quality and service”

Location is excellent and only short walk to Lido Beach. The "hotel" has no lobby and any information is left in a box on upper floor to advise which suite has been allocated. Rather confusing however based upon the service offered it does offer value for money.

Area recommendations
The gulf coast at Sarasota has wonderful beaches including Longboat Key, Lido Beach and Siesta Key. In addition to numerous hotels/condos, excellent golf, tennis, boating and fishing facilities there are a wide variety of restaurants and bars offering from budget to very expensive. Well worth a visit.

“Not for us”

The area was very nice but the condo we were given was very run down, however it was clean. The problem was the night life did not suit us ie, bugs, small black flying things and cochroaches in the condo! Planned to stay two nights but checked out after one.

“A Teeeny Tiny Room for Two”

What a fiasco- the room was sooo small-about 6" more area from the sides of the bed. Yes, it was a queen-not fit for a Queen, however. We have bruised knee caps from moving around the bed and armour. We saw a roach one night in the bathroom. On a positive side-the bed was very comfy...yes "Goldilocks" slept very well with the Papa Bear. We would never go there again. Bad news bears!! You might consider moving the smoking area for your staff, who sat outside our only window in the bathroom and chained smoked. We do not like smokey areas. In general, the visit was primarily to see our daughter who lives in town-we will go back but not to that hole.

Area recommendations
We liked the area going north, Longboat Key. All in all, the gulf side is spectacularly clean. No transients standing on corners, no graffiti, wonderful roads, kind people in the food industry, clean beaches, etc. It is a big surprise when comparing the "Atlantic" side with the Gulf. People go way over the top to make your visit memorable.
Shopping
Yes, there is plenty of wonderful shopping to do-go to St. Armen's Circle. Nice!
Dining
Well, we ate too much..but, we were on vacation....Try: The Breakfast House....very clean and all done in pastels. service great-food was very good. The Irish Pub and Grille, Main St, Sarasota was so fantastic...if you like Irish food and a ale and enjoy listening to a guitarist playing all of the Irish tunes that you can think of...I had the Irish Meat Pie, which was made of beef and lamb, root veggies and complemented with a nice hunk of Irish soda bread. It's on the second floor, with an elevator that opens to the street. Parking-plenty- right out front. The Siesta Key Oyster Bar is quite an experience...on the beach. They have wonderful seafood, appetizers to die for and ale on tap. They also have a band on weekend nights. We visited Monk's Oyster Bar for Lunch one day, and then Phillipi's Restaurant on the Harbor another. We also had a wonderful dinner at Bills Chowder house....all great.
Family-friendly activities
Our main purpose of this trip was to visit our young adult daughter who lives and works in Sarasota. We had a wonderful time and met many of her friends and co-workers.
Nightlife
We had the chance to view the wonderful sunset in Sarasota from a friend's penthouse. We hope to use our picture there for our 2011 Christmas Card. We do a lot of traveling and take many photos with this in mind...I think Sarasota Sunset wins...
Outdoors or beach
We dipped a toe into the water and it was only about 72*. There were people swimming at Lido Beach. The natives thought that it was getting "cold" down there, but we knew differently. We went home to 58* weather.

“If you know the area, you will know the value of this property”

I have to travel often to Sarasota for both work and pleasure, and over the years have got to know the area pretty well. For my money, this property offers one of the best values in the area. The price for the location is unbeatable. The property is located a block from the public beach, yet only about 3 miles to downtown Sarasota (where my work often takes me). Within walking distance there are numerous shops and restaurants on St. Armands. The property is small and intimate, not a large chain. It does not offer the perks of a larger property but the charm you would expect in a smaller property. Over the years, I have stayed in a number of different rooms. Basically there are the small but affordable Guest Rooms or the larger (both in size and price) suites. The Guest Rooms are perfect for me when I am alone in town for business. They are smaller than the average hotel room but offer all the same amenities at a very affordable price base on the incredible location. The larger suites are perfect for me when I travel with my family. The suites have separate bedrooms, full kitchen, living rooms with sleeper sofa. The rooms are always clean and very comfortable and offer free wifi and parking. They do not offer breakfast but in the suites you have a fully stocked kitchen (saves some money to spend elsewhere) or you can walk to a number of restaurants in the area. I like the Blue Dolphin for breakfast.

“Lido Beach best position but a lot to improve..”

Good rates, wonderful postion to go to Lido Beach. The rooms are very poor in terms of kitchen equipment and furniture. In some rooms the living area is inadeguate. The cleaning service isn't included at all. Do not exist reception service and a basic customer care. A lot to improve.

Area recommendations
Lido Beach is a quite wonderful place to visit as well as Siesta Key Beach.
