“Bed & Breakfast ... I think not!”
Santa Barbara is a wonderfull location and we were 1/2 block from the beach. The staff at Casa Del Mar Inn & BB were friendly and quite helpful when asked questions. The grounds were quaint 40's mission style with flowers blooming in February.
That's the best I can say. Our room was not charming at all. There was a plain looking bed with one chair that look like it had been left there since the 70"s. Cold vinyl floor in both the bedroom and bathroom. A small desk tucked into a corner behind a door with an extremely small flat screen tv above it. The "breakfast" consisted of some stale pastries, store bought bagels, corn flakes, coffee or tea. Wine & cheese was chedder/pepper jack cheese and undrinkable red or white wine.
This place was full of potential but all of it wasted on no attention to details. Sorry to be so blunt but my wife and I are not that hard to please but other than the staff we were very disappointed.
Area recommendations
Down by the beach or up by old town near State street would be the most desirable places to stay. We had a good time touring the court house. Good history, beautiful grounds and don't miss the view from the tower. A trip to the mission was interesting also. We would have spent more time near the beach had it been a little warmer. We had a good time browsing State Street shops and out door mall area. Plenty of great restaurants around.
When to go
Santa Barbara has nice weather all year long but we probably should have waited until March. It was a little cool with patches of rain. Plus I am sure even more beautiful flowers would have been out.
