“loud all night - old heating and plumbing”

Internet was down, the room was loud all night due to old heating and plumbing we think. Would not stay there again. Not worth the convenience.

“Too little for too much”

The hotel location is the best thing about this place. I took my Mother there before going on a Cruise and for the money they charged for a Ocean View, it's not worth it. The bathroom floor boards were crumbling away and the room just seemed old. The only good thing I thought was the convenience of the boardwalk and the free wifi. Other than that, not much to brag about.

“OK for the price”

Rooms clean and tidy but bathroom a bit dated. One window would not lock. Very well located in terms of restaurants, shops and beach and staff very friendly. Reasonably priced.

“Ocean View OK”

Although I felt it was overpriced it was in a great position to where I wanted to be. I wanted to be by the ocean near to the Santa Monica pier. The hotel was only 500mtr from the pier and just as close to restaurants and shops so I was happy. We also had to pay for parking and had to go out to get a decent breakfast. There was a problem with internet access at night due to the fact of a convention of film makers in town. The internet in the morning was fine. The room also didn't have a refrigerator but there was an ice machine down the hallway.

Area recommendations
Was only there for 24 hours. Santa Monica Pier, stroll from pier along the beach passed 'Muscle Beach' and Venice Beach. Check out the shopping on 3rd Promenade. Eat a great feed of crabs at 'Joe's Crab Shack' at Long Beach Wharf

“NOT IMPRESSED”

We booked a room for 5 at expedia, nowhere did it say that it occured extra cost when we got to the hotel. We also paid extra for ocean veiw and was places on the 2nd floor behind another building and could see a corner of the ocean if we where lucky. Hotel decor looks like the 80s. Expencive parking, other hotels in aerea charged half the fee.

“Excellent sea view location”

Hotel could do with a bit of TLC, but the room was comfortable and clean, and the staff friendly and helpful, and the location is just great - handy for Santa Monica pier, the beach and all the restaurants/shops nearby. The fish and chips at Ye Old Kings Head are legendary, and justly so !!

“Comfortable but noisy!”

Stayed in an Ocean View room at the front of the hotel for 3 nights, including a Friday and Saturday. The bar on the corner of the street (just next door) was SO loud into the wee hours of the morning, but apparently this is much quieter than it used to be. Hotel is due to be renovated in a few years, perhaps some soundproofing will be added? New hotel (Ocean Shore) by the same owners is due to open just down the road (towards the Pier) October 2011, looks lovely and would probably stay there rather than Ocean View again. Front desk staff were very helpful. Great location, just minutes from the Santa Monica Pier, and only a couple of blocks from the 3rd Street Promenade shops.

“It is OK”

Room was OK but was surprised there was no information in the room about the hotel or hotel services. No pen or paper to write anything down on. Just seemed to be on the cheap side considering the price of the room. Based on the area I would tell friends about the hotel.

“disappointing”

Very disappointed in this hotel we have stayed in Sanata Monica before at Lowes Hotel which was fantastic and paid the same prices for Ocean View and was nowhere near standard of Lowes, there was no pool, or any other facilities apart from room would not stay here again
