Exactly what I expected, we felt welcome, great staff, the building has character and it is very well located. Would love to spend more time at this hotel.

A basic hotel with good location

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: It's cleanliness and location (see below). Easily accessible WiFi.
Cons: No AC; no matter in April, but, even in SF, on a humid day in August, would the ancient ceiling fan suffice? The single elevator is ancient and slow.
Location: The hotel is off Union Sq., with ample restaurants, high-end shopping choices. Market St., a main transportation corridor, is 4 short blocks away.
This is a very small and basic hotel in an old building, but not offering the extras that the label "boutique" suggests. There're few amenities beyond evening turn-down service, ice machines and an acceptable breakfast: bread and a toaster, bagels, pastry selection, 2 cereals, OJ, fruit, yogurt and cold hard-boiled eggs of slightly dubious freshness. (There's an evening wine period I did not experience.) My room and bathroom were small--fine for single use--and quiet. The single window had an excellent view of a brick wall, which probably helped block street noise. Decor style was old fashioned though materials are quite fresh-looking. There was a four-chair lounge on my floor (and most floors?) with a refrigerator and coffee/hot water. Staff interaction was mainly with the single receptionist in the tiny lobby--pleasant enough. But when I stored luggage upon checkout and, to attend a meeting in suit and tie, and wanted to come back to change into something more comfortable for my flight and to repack my suitcase, they could/would only offer a tiny public restroom. There would be no unmade rooms available for 5 minutes' use, I was told firmly-twice. But in fact, when I returned, staff were obviously still making up rooms after guest departures. Instead of a firm "no" early on, why not have given me an "if available" response? Inflexible and unhelpful.

Great location, great amenities

Posted 16-Apr-2015
Pros: Location, staff & amenities
Cons: Bathroom could use updating. New carpet.
Location: 1/2 block off Union Square, Great shopping, restaurants and galleries right outside your door.
What a fantastic location in SF, walking distance from Union Square. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. They offered to have breakfast waiting for me at 5am so I could eat before catching a 7am flight. The wine & cheese hour was a nice touch to a busy day and the sugar cookie before bed was excellent. Not the most modern of facilities (do they even have air conditioning??), but what they lack in facilities they more than make up for in hospitality!

Incredible boutique hotel

Posted 10-Apr-2015
This was the PERFECT little hotel for my two night stay in San Francisco. It's incredibly quaint and charming, but still professional with great attention to detail. Plus, the location is unbeatable. I would stay here over any big chain or fancy hotel in the area. There is breakfast every morning from 7-10 and wine and cheese offered every evening. They even drop a San Francisco Chronicle newspaper at your door every morning. It was wonderful to wake up here in my little SF hotel and then head to work. The rooms are nice as well. I had a queen sized bed with a bathroom and adjacent living room area. Very clean, comfortable bed, ironing board available, etc. No complaints at all from me. This hotel is a gem!

Great location and good experience overall

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Though small, The Inn at Union Square would satisfy most visitors' needs for a few days in SF. My only issues were the lack of a small refrigerator, and the cleaning lady came a bit late on both days during my visit (I returned to my room at 5pm on the first day and my room hasn't been cleaned, and on the second, she knocked on my door at 4pm, but I wanted to take a nap before heading out in the evening so I asked whether she could come back later, but she said she'd be off work by then......). Other than that, it was rather quiet despite the small rooms. I was worried that there'd be sound coming from other rooms, but it was ok.

Beautiful boutique hotel in heart of San Francisco

Posted 06-Mar-2015
Pros: Location couldnt be better. Staff were exceptional. Rooms were charming. Overall experience was excellent.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Great for walking down to Union Square for a glass of champagne, and then on to Belden Place for lunch or further on to the Ferry Building for seafood
Charming hotel in heart of San Francisco. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The room was nicely decorated, quiet, and the bed was superb. Breakfast in the breakfast nook was perfect. We brought our tray back to the room and enjoyed a relaxing, sumptious morning.
