not what pictures look like

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Showering was like camping. Not enough hot water, unless you turned the water off, soaped up, then turned it on to rinse off. No wifi, barely any cell service. No air conditioning or heating. No microwave and the kitchen was in a closet, nothing like the photos. I will say it was clean and staff was nice, but I would not stay there again.

Large space close to Vatican City

Posted 25-Mar-2014
Pros: Location, space and staff.
Cons: More comfortable furniture.
Location: VAtican City.
Great space, close to Vatican City. Fairly spartan accomodations. Very helpful staff. It felt like form housing for clergy, but easy walk to the Vatican.

Really good apartments to stay in Rome in peace

Posted 22-Feb-2014
Pros: Peace and quiet. Helpful reception staff. Open roof terrace.
Cons: Slightly better kitchen items but didn't need them e.g a few pots and pan. There was a microwave, hobs, fridge, kettle, plates, bowls, knives & forks
Location: Vatican museum & St Peters Basillica. Trastevere old eating area can be walked although further away. Highly recommended Goose restaurant 5 mins walk
We stayed 5 nights in February 2014. The reception staff could not have been more helpful. The room was perfect for what we wanted. We spent all day out in Rome. There were a couple of excellent restaurants locally (Goose impressed us the most but NEVER eat in Papa Rex - latter is terrible restaurant). Change of towels every day. Beds made every day. Beds comfortable. We liked being in a quieter area for sleeping in. Roof terrace open day and night. Taxis into town anything from 10-20 euros - we were ripped off once when charged double what we should have been but majority were excellent. We found the Romans very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!

Excellent Location, Quiet neighborhood

Posted 31-Dec-2013
Pros: Location!! Price. Simple kitchenette.
Cons: The heater/fan was out of order, not a problem the time of year I visited but not having AC in the summer would be an issue.
Location: Vatican very close. Nice walks across the Tiber on any of the bridges takes you to any area of the city center you could want.
Overall, the hotel was perfect for my needs. Solo traveler. Used the room to sleep, shower and have breakfast. The kitchenette was nice, allowed me to save some money by buying breakfast and snacks at the grocery instead of having to eat every meal at a restaurant. Prefer paying a little extra for a small private room than staying at a hostel. The staff was helpful. I am low maintenance but when I had any questions they were very helpful. Always said hello with a smile when you walked by the desk. The location was fantastic. You could walk to St. Peter's square in about 5-8 minutes. The bridges over the Tiber allowed multiple access points to various areas of downtown. I prefer to walk but the subway and bus stops were pretty close if needed.

the hotel staff was remarkable.

Posted 10-Nov-2013
Location: It was very close to St. Peters square and the museums. It was close to a public transportation, both train and bus. The subway was a little farther
The hotel staff was wonderful. They were so helpful in giving us directions to sites we wanted to see and how to use the excellent public transit system, recommending things to visit and safe areas. It was great to have a small kitchen to accomodate my special food needs - we saved a lot by eating just one meal per day out. The grocery store was close and we never had a problem finding someone to speak a little English to help us out. Excellent, safe and convenient facility. I would highly recommend this site to anyone. a small elevator was even available if we were to tired to climb the stairs. Beautiful City. Great Location, very helpful staff.

Vatican Suites Stay 22 - 25 September 2013

Posted 04-Oct-2013
Pros: See comments above
Cons: all good
Location: The hotel is within a few blocks of St peter's Square. There are buses, tours, taxis, and coffee shops within walking distance
The Vatican Suites was near perfect for our pre-cruise stay 22-25 September 2013. The reservation for 3 days was made several months in advance and did not require pre-payment or even a credit card to hold the rooms. The staff made our transfer arrangements from the airport to the hotel via email. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Each room had it's own bathroom and a wall a/c unit that was more than adequate. There is no food service, but they have a vending machine for water, beer, wine, and snacks. There is a lounge area where you can bring in your own food. There is a small market a few blocks away as well as a restaurant. We used the market several times for light evening meals and wine. We did not try the restaurant. The view from the rooftop terrace is spectacular. There are tables and chairs for lounging. The view of St Peters' Basilica dome a night is a plus. A word of caution to people who are unable to negotiate inclines. It is a 10 minute downhill hike from the hotel to St Peter's Square. It is an uphill climb for the return with a long flight of steps to negotiate. Our returns to the hotel were generally by cab. Keep the name and address of the hotel in your wallet to show the cab drivers as the hotel is in a residential neighborhood. I would stay here again!
