Modern Hotel,comfy beds

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Pros: Clean rooms
Cons: Open the Roof top bar - PLEASE!
The staff were all very helpful, the rooms were spotless and the beds and pillows very comfortable. The rooms were cleaned daily. The breakfast consisted of rolls, cold meat, fresh fruit and lots of cake, this suited our party of four.We reached the hotel from the airport by train, 8 euros each, after getting a train to Trevante then switching for 2 stops, very straightforward (we didnt wanted ripped off with a taxi). The hotel is not on the main road and it took us app ten mins to reach from the train station (once we got our bearings). We took the advice from previous reviewers and ate twice in the italian restaurant next to the hotel (turn left when you come out). The food there was tremendous and fairly cheap - they quickly point out they dont do pizza though! The first negative was the roof bar never opened, despite being told twice it would "tomorrow".It would have been nice just to relax in it after a long day walking as there didnt seem to be any local pubs to go to.The other thing is that the rooms are incredibly noisy, there really is no sound proofing and the tiled floors just meant a few times I woke really expecting to see someone else in the room! The noise is from other holidaymakers....Would recommend this hotel, 15 minutes walk from St Peters, off the main drag and in a housing scheme, but in a good way.We also tried the buses, beware, they are tightly packed beyond belief and the pick pockets tried a few times on our bus.An all day ticket is £6 euro, easy to do.

Hotel with NO service & rude staff

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: convenient location, less than 10mins to St. Peter's Square
Cons: a lot
All staff are squared face. Whatever you asked, the answer is NO. Supposed to have Wifi but only in the lobby. Nowhere to put stuff in the bathroom, not even your clothes. In the shower, no hanger to put shampoo/conditioner.

Nice Hotel near The Vatican

Posted 01-Sep-2014
Pros: You can get by train at a low cost with no need of using taxi or other transport to the airport, the cruise terminal or the central rail station.
Cons: Their wifi connection. Although you have it all around the hotel, the signal comes in and out with certain frequency.
Location: A 5 minute walk to Vatican entrance and well communicated to the rest of Rome by bus or intercity train, a minute walk to bus stop or train station.
This a nice, small and kind of new hotel near The Vatican on the south side. The staff is very friendly and helped us with all the issues and information needed. The rooms are small, the same as most of rooms in Europe, but nice, clean and with a modern look. The other amenities like TV and Breakfast are ok and the bar at the top of the building has a nice view of that part of the city.

Great hotel, friendly staff, excellent location.

Pros: All the staff were friendly & helpful, especially Fabrizio & Osama who provided excellent service throughout our stay. Roof garden was spectacular.
Cons: Hotel was very comfortable, rooms clean & tidy, modern decor but it could just do with a little bit of attention, paintwork a bit scuffed in places.
Location: Great location, 15 minute walk to Vatican. Plenty place to eat near hotel that were good value. 916 bus took you within walking distance of all sights
We had booked a junior suite for our stay but on arrival found that the hotel was double booked and were given a double room instead. Osama at reception was very nice, apologised for error and explained this would only be for 1 night and we were moved to our suite the next day without delay. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful, service was great. Rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable, our suite had a small balcony to front and a large terrace at side which was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful with good selection of cereals, cold cuts, fresh fruit & pastries. Roof garden was fantastic, great place to relax at end of busy day with a drink and amazing views. Hotel was in a good location, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel was within walking distance to Vatican, from there you had access to metro and buses for other places of interest. 916 bus service from hotel took you into city centre and within walking distance of all major attractions if you didn't mind walking. Really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Gravia San Pietro and would most definitely stay there again.

Avoid this Hotel

Posted 28-Jul-2014
Pros: 15 minute walk to St. Peters square.
Cons: Attitude of the staff, Cleanliness and up keep of the room. Misleading hotel website advertisments.
Booked a "Vatican View" room and instead we were given a room with a view of a brick wall. The shower head and shower door was broken and their was hair on the floor. When we expressed our concerns to the gentelman at the front desk he could careless. Also "Buffett breakfast" is actually just cakes and juice. Last thing to mention is when you check out they will try and charge you an extra "City Tax" which for some strange reason can only be paid in cash. Our impression was that the "Ctiy Tax" goes right into their pocket.

Not what I expected

Posted 23-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
I had booked a junior suite because it offered a view of the Vatican however the room i received had no views other than a couple of apartments with their clothes hanging in their balcony to dry. The room was tiny and the walls need a paint job. The carpet had stains. Other than the location there was nothing great about the hotel. Will not return to this hotel.

Great Location

Hotel Gravina San Pietro is very well placed for the Vatican and from there access to other tourist attractions in Rome. Central Rome is within walking distance but bus stops and a train station are also minutes away. The hotel is run efficiently and the roof top terrace overlooking St. Peter's provides is wonderful place to relax on an evening prior to retiring to bed. Although the surrounding area is not salubrious the restaurants close to the hotel are well worth visiting as they offer excellent menus.

Hotel Built for Short Stays

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: Bed
Cons: Shower Drawer Space
Location: Near the Vatican and decent row of restaurants
We picked this hotel at random based on the picture that portrayed this hotel as more modern. The picture was a little deceiving. From the outside, like most hotels in Italy, it's old. The inside of the hotel is a little more modern and rooms appear to be renovated. However, the rooms are very small. We had a king size bed and that basically took up the entire room. There were two 8x11(approximate) size drawers, so you really couldn't unpack anything. The walk in shower had a large overhead spray but it did not work well or produce good water pressure. There was also a hand held spray that worked a little better and we ended up using that the entire time. There were NO places in the shower to put anything, like soap or shampoo. We had to put everything on the toilet lid and reach over every time we need something, which was very frustrating. That is why I recommend this hotel for a short term visit but not long term. Also, its in a very quiet part of Rome. If you want a little excitement, I would recommend another part of Rome closer to the center, like the area near the Spanish Steps. Finally, the AC did not work based on the in-room controls, we had to call downstairs and they had to manually turn it on. Once they did, it was flowing very nicely. The free breakfast was decent but nothing to rave about.

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel, if we visit Rome again we would attempt to book this hotel.
