Le Reve has an advantageous location and may have been a great place. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The description and photos on the website are outdated, and the property is clearly neglected by management and/or owners. During our stay at one of the beachfront villas with pool, we noticed that the place is falling apart and not properly maintained. We experienced power outages for at least one-third of our stay, no water for a significant portion of two days, and no hot water from the evening prior to our checkout until we left at noon. There is no maintenance crew, and the front desk associate had no tools to try and fix a broken pipe. The furniture and fixtures are old, some are broken or missing, and the beach chairs and lounges are beaten up with no umbrellas. The pipes are rusty, light bulbs are missing, and the mattresses are hard. The bedding and towels are old, stained, smelly, and have holes. The rooms are only half cleaned, and none of the common areas were cleaned during our three-night stay. The few employees who showed any care did their best with what they had, including Arturo, Javier, Alvaro, and Beth. Unfortunately, we did not see any management during our stay. We hope that this review will serve as a warning to others considering this property. The issues we experienced are not isolated, as other recent reviews have referenced the same problems and the hotel’s responses not followed with actions. This hotel should not be operating.

Beautiful property! Very nice and polite staff. The view! However, the hot tub didn't work. Neither did the tv. The language barrier was tough when ordering food, but hey it's Mexico! Overall a great deal for a beach front hotel

The manager Mr Humpheys was very courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the area. Wish there was more light in the bathroom. You had to walk out across rocks to be able to swim.

I read the reviews both good and bad before booking. Our room was clean as was the bar and restaurant. The bed was ok but I like a firm mattress and ours was soft. Towels are huge and fluffy. Wifi was good in the room for streaming as well at the pool and beach. The staff were great. Alvaro greeted us when checking in. Ivan and the other bartender were very nice. Mojitos we’re tasty and the beer was cold. Is it fancy, no but it’s clean and the small group of staff were fabulous.

First I’d like to say the staff was overall good, friendly, helpful. But the property is run down, the beds were super hard ( like sleeping on a board!) and the AC in our room didn’t work. There were also hardly any other people staying at the hotel which seemed kinda creepy…They also don’t really have many food options near by and that really sucked, and all the restaurants on the beach open at 11. Overall, I probably wouldn’t stay again or recommend.

The property must have been stunning and could be again if the owners only supported their staff. The super staff were doing their utmost to make us happy but without any management or support. The place needs to have money spent to maintain it.

Complete waste of money
Dreadful experience. We stayed in the premium room and I've never experienced a hotel this bad. We checked in and could not get two rooms keys because they only give one key per room no matter how much we insisted on two keys. This obviously made life challenging for my wife and I needing to coordinate our time at the room or one would be locked out. We asked for face clothes and were told no because they don't provide that. Asked for an extra pillow for my wife who is dealing with a neck injury - nope, they do not provide extra pillows. We went to breakfast and sat at a dirty table for 15 minutes before walking out. My wife went back to get a coffee and was told no because all the coffee was finished. She insisted on a coffee since nothing is provided in the room and she managed to get one after 10 minutes. We asked for a glass of water at the pool bar and were told no, they do not provide water unless we pay. It was odd because the staff also kept asking for tips even though we literally got zero service. One even went as far as explaining to us how little money the hotel pays its staff so he really needed a tip and he promised he would share it with the other staff. It was all very weird and unpleasant. It's a shame because the beach is lovely and it could be so much more with proper management. The simple things we were denied are absolutely basic at any hotel anywhere in the world. The issue is likely the owner being extremely cheap.

This hotel is a bare bones place with very limited services and staff so if you’re looking for a resort experience this isn’t it. You need a rental car or you would be spending a ton on taxis. Food at the restaurant is expensive too for what you get. The rooms are nice and the location on the beach is fantastic. There are a couple things down the beach like massages and a viewpoint that are nice to take in. They also have pretty good wifi, enough to stream Netflix.

They only provide 2 x 500 ml bottle of drinking water during the whole stay, you have to buy your own drinking water, 40 pesos per small bottle of water; restaurant only sells hamburger and french fries for dinner in that evening we stayed there; breakfast service is very very slow, only one employee is serving breakfast for all the hotel guest and he is verbally reminding us that tips is not included; a one way taxi ride to downtown Playa del Carmen costs 350 pesos. The only positive thing is that the front row hotel room have wonderful ocean view and the beach is very calm and very good for swimming in November.

Pros. Incluye desayuno, la habitacion esta limpia y espaciosa. Se encuentra frente a la playa. La vista es excelente para aprovechar la playa, quien atendio el bar en mi estancia muy amable y con excelente actitud de servicio...Cons. No cuentan con suficiente personal, en el desayuno tardan en atenderte, se sirve la comida y el cafe frios, la alberca se encontraba muy sucia, los camastros en la playa en malas condiciones. El servicio de bar esta disponible en horario limitado. Cuentan con limitada cantidad de alimentos que menciona el menu

Look elsewhere, pics are 10yrs old
Stayed at the private pool bunalow. Honeymoon with wife, no "activities" No privacy for room. Next to bathroom and others walking past or peeking around at all hours. Even with curtains closed can see both out and in due to breeze from closed door. Patio door leading to the private 15x6 foot pool never completely closed. Easy to lift door from bottom lock and walk in, no need to have room key. During rain storm, make sure to use all your towels by this door since tile gets wet from this non shutting door. Pool had no filter or light, not sure if it was ever tested for water quality. Bed hard, pillows old, no down comforter. Not comfortable sleeping. Bartender/pool attendant/resturant host/waiter all was same person, who kept telling me to take pictures of the food. Yes, PRESENTATION of food was magazine quality, taste and food quailty was BAD. Only thing fresh was the fresh fruit in morning. Asking for tips is a no no, I tip if good service, not stand 3ft away waiting for tip after asked. Beach and ocean water had thick kelp, so cannot recommend beach. Free Wi-Fi is spotty, lost connection often. TV in room has no channels, even YouTube said not connected. Lack of sitting in room and patio. Lounge chairs on deck were 2inchs off ground and only fit diagonally. In room fridge lowest was 45°F PROS: Gentleman at main desk was very helpful and gave best service. AC worked good in room. Big shower. Quiet place can listen to breeze and ocean water hitting shore.

When you arrive, the check in process was not that bad the lady at front spoke limited English thanks to the tour guy at front desk who helped. There is no concierge on site to help you carry your bags after a long flight and drive on vacation. You pretty much have to carry your own bags down a long flight of stairs to your room. They advertise breakfast included however they give you a ticket which says the only breakfast you get is a toast, coffee/tea and fruit. Anything else you have to pay for it. I ordered an omelette thinking it’s breakfast and had to pay for it. The rooms aren’t that bad but the hotel could use a little updating. One of the pro is it’s in a quiet spot with nothing going on and you can get some sleep if you like it quite. Con 20mins drive to 5th Ave where the action is and cab drivers wanted $32 for one way. Overall it’s not a bad hotel which can use a little bit of some staffing and activities to get the place going unless they would come back with the COVID excuse.

Les falta demasiado servicio al cliente, solo porque sean eco friendly no significa que no van a dar ni jabón para el cuerpo o crema, muchos contactos no funcionaban, y las instalaciones de la habitación ya muy viejas, un mantenimiento de vez en cuando no les afecta, el piso de la alberca tenía clavos salidos no saben lo peligroso que eso es ! En fin la verdad no regresaría pero la vista es lo más bonito…

Great continental breakfast. Clean and nice room with private pool and beach view. No phone in the room makes inconvenient to call or ask for room service. We literally had to go to reception for everything. Also covid test they provide are very expensive. Don't do it there. You will get cheaper in downtown area.

We had a very relaxing and excellent stay during our 9 days there. A beautiful and peaceful place where you can truly relax on an uncrowded and quiet beach and enjoy stunningly beautiful sunsets and sunrises by the sea. It's just far enough out of town to be quiet and calm and yet close enough to make excursions into Playa del Carmen easy. The dining at the restaurant is quite good and has a wide culinary variety to choose from. And the staff all make an effort to make your stay enjoyable and they all do their best to ensure your stay is just that. I'd like to thank Gustavo and Rafael the bartenders and Maria the maid as well as all of the rest of the staff for making our stay perfect. Le Reve hotel is a place with a great view and a great beach but it is the staff and their dedication that sets this place apart and makes it a truly great hotel in an idyllic location. Le Reve in french means "the dream" and it lived up to it's name.

This property is 1 of the most beautiful small hotels I have ever seen The staff and management are incredible. We were welcomed with open arms. Our supper and comp breakfast at the Merlot dining room was very good. We were very pleased we reserved this hotel. Our only complaint is the bed was very hard.

Absolutely awful experience - do not stay at this hotel. Read reviews from other websites and book literally anywhere else. We had to move to 3 different rooms because they were all dirty/things were broken/etc. We finally left a day early because it rained INSIDE our room, then we had no running water for almost 24 hours. The front desk staff was very nice and guaranteed us a refund, but once we returned home, the hotel denied the refund so we are now out hundreds of dollars. Save your money and stay away. Nothing but a headache - the exact opposite of what you would want on vacation.

Their page is a lie, is away of any regular road, dark, insecure, obstacles like pumps and holes, you have to cross part of the jungle, no advice of regular animals could appear, big problem to park the car, no spaces, the bedrooms are deplorable, towels old and dirty, no have basic services like water, blinds, tv channels, the restroom looks like a deposit, the flush no works, deliver the room dirty, never you can find any one in the reception, the waitress are un respectfully, use the harassment in the restaurant, terrible food, everything have some kind of vegetable eggs, burgers,(?) bad quality in feeds, but the worst is that is impossible enjoy your meals they are taking to you all the time requesting you everything about your life. Be carful with Gustavo who thinks is irresistible doesn’t care if you are with your husband, harassing you. The receptionist says his record has many reports about this but still is there. They prefer change you of room than fix the problems existent, every room stinks. 2 nights had been enough of this hell.

We rented the beach bungalow room with private pool and were absolutely speechless at the beauty and luxury of this room. Steps away from the beach and bar! When I walked to the bar to grab beverages for our private pool, the bartender told me to get back in our pool and delivered our drinks to us! The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We enjoyed that our room was so close to the beach, like literally 10 steps away. Agustine and Alberto took such good care of us during our whole stay. They were awesome! Very secluded just out side of Playa De Carmen.

We had the room right on the beach and I loved it since the view especially in the morning was beautiful and peaceful. Our included breakfast was fruits with toast and coffee which I found it great . The hotel is a little old but didn’t bother us that much . The service was good .

Location on the beach was great! Hearing the waves hit outside our window at nice was amazing. We only stayed one night so didn't get to experience much but a few things to note: Front desk staff were super friendly & helpful. Parking was super easy & they have 24/7 security there to watch the cars too. The service at the restaurant was incredibly slow, likely due to COVID but be warned you will wait a long time for drinks & food to be delivered and for your check to come. There was only 1 staff working the restaurant & beachside bar when we were there. The bed was good, there were no hand towels in the room which was odd. Additionally cleaning service came in to clean the room at 9am on the day we were checking out which was also odd/inconvenient as we we returned from breakfast to pack things up but everything had been moved & he was still in the process of finishing. We asked him to come back after we left & he was very nice about it.

Staff was the best. Super service. I was doing a special food treatment and the chef made the soup with the recipe I needed. The installations are not so well maintain though. The jacuzzi water was yellow and there was no internet in the bedroom. The prize was reasonable for being in high season. I am happy overall it was a very relaxing experience and having no internet in the room was a blessing.

Salty water
My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is nice but it’s challenging to get to. Narrow unlighted road full of potholes. You will definitely get lost at first so be aware! The most u usual and discomfort issue we experienced at the hotel was the water used to shower and to wash was salty. We complained about it but nothing was done. I think this is the only hotel that supplies their gustes with salty ocean water.
